  • Facebook Messenger Updated to Version 5.0 With Video Sharing and Other Improvements

On Monday, Facebook released an update to its standalone Facebook Messenger application for iOS, which makes 5.0 the current version of the application.

Facebook Messenger now supports taking and sending video right from the application, which before the update, would only allow you to send still photographs. Photo sharing has also been improved, as the application now allows you to take a photo and send it with a single tap without needing to leave your Facebook Messenger conversation to take a photo. Facebook also notes that voice messages are also easier to send.

Other improvements include shortcuts to Facebook stickers, improvements to the search feature to make it easier to search for people and/or conversations that you have in the application, and a number of bug fixes to improve the stability and usability of the application overall.

Facebook's constant tweaks to the Facebook Messenger application aren't surprising, as the company is expected to force all Facebook users that want to message their friends on Facebook to download and use the standalone Facebook Messenger application in the future.

Existing users of the Facebook Messenger application will find the update under the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Facebook Messenger application for free from this App Store link.

It's very strange that no review/confirmation is available when sending pictures or recordings, especially those made in-app. Sending videos is definitely a nice addition though.
