LG Rumored to be Main supplier of Flexible iWatch Displays Again
According to a report from Korea’s GforGames, LG will be the main supplier for flexible displays used in the iWatch, as Apple is looking to release the device in two sizes later this year. Reports note that the company is looking to sell 9 million iWatch units by the end of 2014 with LG’s collaboration, and the iWatch is said to be released in September of this year. GforGames reports also claim that the device will be coming in two different sizes of 1.3 inches and 1.5 inches.
Back in February, Korean publication Digital Daily, also shared similar news saying that LG would be the main supplier of the panels for the iWatch, and would be starting mass production of the flexible displays in July of 2014. It was reported that LG was the chosen company due to its thin and light panels, and produced brightness with the least power consumption.
The iWatch is rumored to come with many biometric sensors and includes integration with iPads, iPhones, and Macs. In a note released last week, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi estimated that Apple will have a variety of price points and will come in different materials with the highest selling for thousands of dollars. The iWatch is expected to be revealed by Apple later in the year along with the iPhone 6 and iOS 8.
