Last month, iOS developer Alan Yip released a really cool widget platform for iOS 7 called ProWidgets
that third-party developers could use to build their own widgets. We've shown you a few of them so far, but today we're going to show you one called Currency ProWidget
by iOS developer Tim Perin.
With Currency ProWidget, you can easily convert a number from one type of currency to another. The first time you open the widget, you get the interface above on the left. This interface allows you to choose what currency to convert USD (United States Dollars) to. Once you pick one, you will be brought to the next interface (in the middle above) where you can change USD to anything you want, or you can type in an amount to convert. Tapping on the "Go" button will convert the amount to the different currency.
The result of your conversion appears at the bottom of the interface, and you can go back to do another conversion, or you can close the widget entirely.
Although USD is the default currency, you can head over to the ProWidgets preferences pane, tap on the Widgets cell, then tap on the Currency cell, and you will find a place to change the default currency:
As we showed you in the original review of ProWidgets, the tweak supports several different ways of opening different widgets. If you're an Activator fan, then you can assign an Activator action to Currency ProWidget. Alternatively, you can use CCLoader to add a quick shortcut to Control Center, or you can configure some of the built-in ProWidgets shortcuts for Notification Center without installing more tweaks like we did below:
Currency ProWidget is a free download from Cydia's BigBoss repository, but to use it, you will need ProWidgets and iOS 7. If you don't already have ProWidgets, it's a $2.99 purchase from Cydia's BigBoss repository.
