If you remember our full review of ProWidgets
by Alan Yip, then you may remember that we told you it was an extensible platform that third-party iOS developers could take advantage of to create their own widgets and offer in Cydia as extensions to the tweak.
A new add-on for the widget framework is now available in Cydia dubbed WolframAlpha ProWidget
by iOS developer Tim Perin, and it allows you to add a widget to ProWidgets that lets you access information from WolframAlpha with next to no effort at all.
The WolframAlpha ProWidget, shown above, lets you type in queries into the widget and then tap on the "Search" button to search WolframAlpha for its useful logical output. The output screen takes up the entire display, while the query screen only takes up a small amount. The WolframAlpha ProWidget is easily closed with the "Close" button in the query screen.
If you remember, ProWidgets supports several different ways of widget activation. If you're an Activator fan, then you can assign an Activator action to WolframAlpha ProWidget. Alternatively, you can use CCLoader to add a quick shortcut to Control Center, or you can configure some of the built-in ProWidgets shortcuts for Notification Center without installing more tweaks like we did below:
WolframAlpha ProWidget comes in handy for those that don't want an additional application icon on their Home Screen from having to install the WolframAlpha application, and also for those that don't have Siri functionality on their iOS devices and want an easier way to access data from WolframAlpha.
If you would like to give it a try, WolframAlpha ProWidget is free in Cydia's BigBoss repository; however, it depends on ProWidgets, which is a $2.99 purchase in Cydia's BigBoss repository if you don't already own it.
