  • 'Switchr for iPhone' Gives You an Improved App Switcher Experience in iOS 7

You might have just seen our review of Auxo 2 a few days ago, but if you miss the old style of the original Auxo in iOS 6, then check out a new jailbreak tweak called Switchr for iPhone by iOS developer Marvin Schwalzik.

Shown above, you can see that Switchr for iPhone really does appear to take a lot of design queues from the original Auxo. The App Switching interface gives you application previews, as well as over-laying application icons. When the App Switcher opens, the surrounding interface is blurred out to add focus.

You can swipe to the left to view music controls, and swipe to the left once more to find yourself with useful toggles and a volume slider. When listening to music, the App Switcher shows you a little album art preview, as well as an application icon for the application you're using to listen to music. The toggle interface includes toggles for Airplane Mode, Do Not Disturb, Bluetooth, and Flashlight.

Switchr for iPhone adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure the new App Switcher to your liking:

From here, you can enable or disable the re-designed App Switcher on demand, as well as choose to use Touch ID to invoke the App Switcher (iPhone 5s only), pick the order of the things that appear when you open the App Switcher, configure the appearance of the App Switcher, configure the music controls, configure the toggles that appear, and configure an Activator gesture to use with the App Switcher.

Notably, for the tweak's appearance, you can adjust the animation duration, corner radius of the application previews, level of blur, colors, application icons, and application badges. The toggles are fully customizable, and because this tweak doesn't disable Control Center in iOS 7, you can use toggles that aren't in Control Center already, such as LTE, Hotspot, Location Services, VPN, and more.

There is a respring button at the bottom of the preferences pane that should be used to save your changes, but notably, not all changes require a respring to be saved.

Switchr for iPhone is definitely a great option for those out there that are longing to use something like the iOS 6 version of Auxo on iOS 7. It has a lot of iOS 7-style touches that set it apart from Auxo, but it's not so iOS 7-oriented that it feels like it just compliments the existing App Switcher. This is literally an iOS 7 App Switcher replacement, and it's a nice one at that. You can see the level of polish, and the level of detail in much of the tweak's interface. So we could definitely recommend it.

If you would like to give Switchr for iPhone a try, it's available right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository for just $2.00 (50% cheaper than Auxo 2!). The tweak does require iOS 7, and at this point in time, does not support the iPad. Be sure to let us know what you think about this tweak vs. Auxo 2 in the comments!

This should be called Auxo 2.

The other Auxo 2 is just not the same concept as Auxo for IOS 6.

      Catch my drift?

How do you use it ? Doesn't seem to work. I uninstalled Auxo 2 and installed Switchr , swipe up from bottom and nothing happens.

Edit : works only when I double press home button, pretty useless if I still need the home button.

Did you post in the wrong topic or something? It's an app switcher. It works just like the native one. If you want you can assign an activator gesture to it.
