  • Chinese Authorities Arrest iPad 2 Design Leakers

Leaking information about Apple products before said products are released can be really bad for one's well being, particularly if you work at a Chinese manufacturing plant that produces the gadgets about which you squealed. That's certainly the moral of today's story out of Foxconn.

As it turns out, although we're just learning of the matter now, several months ago Chinese police took into custody at least three Foxconn employees who allegedly leaked sensitive design information regarding the iPad 2. The workers in question have been formally brought up on charges pertaining to this leak.

The employees, who worked at the Foxconn hub in Shenzhen, China, were arrested on December 26, 2010 and charged last month with providing third-party accessory makers with iPad 2 product specs. The information leaked ultimately proved correct and accurate enough to legitimately help iPad 2 case makers get a jump start on their accessory manufacturing for the second-generation tablet.

Several online shopping retailers in China were able to sell iPad 2's protective case products before the iPad 2 was even launched, leading Foxconn to suspect that there might have been some employees leaking the design of iPad 2 which it reported to the local police.
Although it isn't clear what the ultimate punishment will be for the leakers, Apple has reportedly taken serious, top-secret steps to curb further incidents from happening this year as the Apple fanbase braces for the iPhone 5 release among other refreshed gadgets and goodies. For now, We don't know exactly what those added security measures entail... and we probably won't... until they're leaked
