  • ih8sn0w's iPhone 4s is Jailbroken On iOS 7.1, No Plans Currently for Public Release

While there's no public jailbreak for iOS 7.1 at the moment, that doesn't mean it's impossible to jailbreak. According to well-known iOS hacker ih8sn0w, his iPhone 4s running iOS 7.1 is already jailbroken.

The claim comes almost a week after iOS hacker Winocm posted a video on YouTube demonstrating an untethered boot on an iPhone 4 running iOS 7.1. Unlike Winocm, who uploaded a video to demonstrate the jailbreak on his device, ih8sn0w hasn't shown off any videos as of yet.

ih8sn0w did comment further, saying that he has no intentions currently of working on a public jailbreak for iOS 7.1, or iOS 8 for that matter:

Although the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s have been pwned on iOS 7.1, there still haven't been any notable claims of the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, or other iOS devices having been jailbroken on iOS 7.1. iOS 7.1 did patch the evasi0n7 jailbreak, so it's no longer usable on Apple's latest firmware update.

If you're running iOS 7.0-7.0.6, it's recommended that you stay there if you plan on jailbreaking, or value your current jailbreak.

...this story benefits who? Why bother a JB for a phone that is going to be phased out? I know many still have them but by next year, the numbers will fall dramatically with the introduction of new tech. Users upgrading to 5C/5S/6 etc.

That triple boot winocm did was nuts. But the 4s jailbreak. Still sweet for people that still use this device and who still won't upgrade.

It's basically just to show off what he can do. Nothing wrong with that really, I would've done the same if I had his skills.

Sure, I'm on a 4s and will likely stick with it until an i6 is released.

Biggest reason is that if iOS 8 doesn't support the 4 or 4s, they can be jail broken for life, just like the 3/3GS.

whats the point in doing the jailbreak and then tweeting about it if you are not gonna do a public release? I for one am still on a 4s and have no intentions of changing it at the moment, but I had it jailbroken on 7.0.4 and had an issue that caused me to "have to" update to 7.1 in order to restore (I HATE Apple for this!) and now I am having trouble living without the jailbreak! I think this year I may switch to an Android device instead of dealing with apples lockdown on idevices! it makes no sense to me why I can't customize my phone which I own outright and have no contract on, for this reason I will not buy another iPhone unless they do away with these restrictions, what would be the point, especially when they keep dumbing down the interface and making it look so crappy and like a kids toy! at least with a jailbreak you can customize it to your liking and have features that you can actually use and that have purpose for a human being!

The upgrade from iphone 4 to iphone 5s just isn't worth it not while the samsung s5 is a much better option!

He likes showing off like with his iPhone 5 iboot exploit that was never released publicly (as far as I know, he blocked me on twitter so I don't know what he's said recently)

The reason I got a 4S was because I knew 5's would be phased out, and I was right- they don't sell any new 5's at all, but they are still offering 8 gb 4S's. It's a good device, I wish someone
Would make a public 7.1 jailbreak for 4S.

Why are the authors publishing this crap. Announcing there's a JB for 7.1 but not plans for public release. Why mention it then? Like pissing people off and causing drama? Smh!!!

This could be a get even for the heat they took for wasting a J/B for 6.1.3. Even so Apple should let people J/B device's that they don't support anymore. OR maybe get the Dev's to release a J/B .

That's not our intention at all. This is happening, so we're just reporting on it. It's reality.

How would a newspaper be news if you removed all of the sad stories you didn't want to read? That seems like a step in the direction of censorship if you ask me.

Good don't do a 7.1 jailbreak because my friends iphone 5C battery drained dramatically and had to get a new iphone at the apple store, the employees won't own up to the software being the problem as they're paid to lie or divert the situation. Just like the illuminati you'll never expose the tyrants. They just cover their lies with more lies.

I still use the 4s....in fact I have 2 of them. One a retired black 32gb locked with stupid Sprint and a white 16gb Verizon which I currently use. I'm still contemplating to what to upgrade next. I might make a switch to android OS with the Galaxy s5 then again I might just wait and see if the jailbroken iphone 6 is a worthy upgrade. I guess I'll have wait and be patience.
