  • 'Volume Mixer' Adds Specialized Volume Control Sliders to Notification Center

One thing about iOS that can sometimes be really annoying is how the ringer volume and media volume are separate. Sometimes, when you think you've turned the volume down, you've only reduced the ringer volume, and when media begins playing it's full blast.

This new Notification Center widget called Volume Mixer by iOS developer VladMax Soft is now available in Cydia and allows you to adjust different forms of volume separately, all from one place. The widget actually goes far beyond just the ringer volume and the media volume, and also includes volume controls for Bluetooth headsets, Bluetooth headphones, and phone call receivers.

Volume Mixer is very professionally polished, and each individual slider comes with a volume percentage, and beautiful aesthetics.

You will find a preferences pane in the Settings application where you can configure the tweak to your liking:

From here, you can enable or disable specific sliders, depending on whether you use them or not, and even change their order to your liking. You will also be able to hide or show the volume percentage, change the skin of the sliders, and configure the color schemes for the left slider, right slider, text color, and thumb grabber color.

There are a number of different skins you can pick from, including:

    • Default iOS
    • Cream round
    • Cream rect
    • Metal

The various colors you can apply to the left slider, right slider, text color, and thumb grabber include:

    • Red
    • Black
    • Gray
    • White
    • Green
    • Blue
    • Yellow
    • Orange
    • Purple
    • Brown

Notably, you can enable or disable the widget on demand by dragging it in or out of Notification Center via the Notification Center preferences pane in the Settings application:

Volume Mixer appears to be a very convenient way of adjusting your volume levels separately even those that you may not use very often. If you would like to give Volume Mixer a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository for 99. It's compatible with both iOS 6 and iOS 7.
