Apple Store App Updated with a Slew of New Features
The iPhone version of the Apple Store app recently hit version 2.9.2, while the iPad one moves to version 1.1. There are some improvements to the iPhone version of the app, one of which includes improvements to in-store alerts that gives users the ability to view notifications both on the lock screen and in-app.
The deployment of in-store iBeacons is a major feature for the Apple Store app and it seems like Apple will be taking the implementation a step further with such release. In the latest iOS 7.1 update, it was reported that a new “always on” iBeacon function is included. In the update, iBeacon-capable software can continue to search for beacon signals even after the app has been closed. However, it is unknown if the Apple Store app uses this feature.
Users can now also purchase Apple Store gift cards anywhere from $25 to $2,000 on the iPad version of the app. Digital gifts will be sent via e-mail within a 24 hour timeframe meanwhile physical cards will be mailed out. This function is already included in the iPhone version of the app. Both Apple Store app versions of the devices came with performance improvements as well as the usual various bug fixes.
You can go ahead and download the Apple Store app for free from the iOS App Store at 6.8MB for the iPhone and 23.6MB for the iPad.
