  • 'AlwaysHDREnabled' Keeps HDR Mode Enabled At All Times in the Camera App

There are a lot of benefits to using the built-in HDR mode that's available in Apple's Camera application. For one, it takes two photographs, one light and one dark, and then combines the two to ensure that the photo is neither too dark, nor too light.

With that being said, if you want the feature enabled at all times without the possibility of it being accidentally turned off without you knowing, then check out a new free jailbreak tweak called AlwaysHDREnabled by iOS developer Milo Darling.

Once installed, the HDR mode in the Camera application will be turned on automatically:

The tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can easily enable or disable the tweak on demand:

If at any time you want HDR mode disabled by default, then you can just disable this tweak here.

If you would like to give AlwaysHDREnabled a try, it's available for free in Cydia's BigBoss repository right now. The tweak requires iOS 7 to be installed.

    Name: AlwaysHDREnabled
    Price: FREE
    Version: 0.0.2-1
    Requirements: iOS 7.0-7.0.6
Tested on: iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.6
    Repo: BigBoss
    Developer: Milo Darling

      I can't get it to work. iPhone 5S 7.0.6
The error says that there was an error loading the preference bundle. When I click on it in settings.

Tried uploading picture here but says I don't have permission.

It might not be compatible with 64-bit devices then.

I only have a 32-bit device to test on, unfortunately.

Ah, yes, my mistake! I was the one who made the preference bundle and stuff for AlwaysHDREnabled, and I totally forgot to make the preference page compatible with 64-bit devices! :P I'll push out an update to MiloDarling right now, sorry about that!

Would it be possible to have it function the same as Apple's original implementation?

Where it saves a normal pic as well as the HDR version? I personally sometimes use the regular one due to the HDR shot being a little fuzzy.

I had to totally uninstall it.....rebooted and then re-installed it and enabled it in settings.

      All good now

      Thanks.

I have it on my 5s & it seems to work. I had to make sure my camera app was completely closed before turning the app on. My only quibble is losing the flash unless you go back in & turn the tweak off. It'd be nice if it behaved like the stock HDR mode did (turn flash on & HDR turns off), just defaulting the HDR to normally on instead of normally off.
