  • Star Trek Online Made Available for the Mac

Star Trek Online is a free to play massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game that launched in 2010. It launched solely for Windows which left Mac users hanging. This changes recently when the developers along with the Mac conversion specialists, TransGaming, announced the release of a Mac version of Star Trek Online. Mac users can finally get in on the action.

For those of you that didnít know, the game is set in the 25th century, about a generation after the events depicted in Star Trek Nemesis. The peace treaty between the Federation and the Klingon Empire failed and the two are at war once again. The Romulan Star Empire is still reeling from the effects of losing their homeworld and the Dominion is rebuilding its fleet. The Borg Collective are back as well.

Youíre captain of your own individual starship and you can pilot a vessel as Federation, Klingon and Romulan to start, though there are dozens of playable races in the game; you can build out different ship classes, go on missions and much more.

As a free-to-play MMO, Star Trek Online costs nothing to get started though users are offered subscription tiers and other content for purchase. Will any of you Mac users give the game a whirl?

A game no one plays is correct, as for machines no one wants...keep enjoying your crappy Windows while I enjoy my Mac with the option to run Windows as well

Just because there are more windows and droid machines in the world, don't make windroids any better.

Best windows machine I've ever seen is a MacBook Pro.

As far as the game, it's not as unwanted as you say, either.

Why would you want an option to run windows if your Mac is so awesome?

Heck, I could dual boot with Linux if I wanted some useless crap on my PC that cost half as much as your under powered Mac.

lol...it's cute because you CLEARLY don't understand why it's "free to play".
