The City of San Francisco has officially granted Apple permission to start working on itís iconic Union Square retail center and Apple has given word that it will be "more iconic than the glass cube in New York City." The new store has been in the works for about a year where the city insisted on many different changes to improve accessibility and preserve historic elements.
Foster + Partners, a UK based architecture firm, will be designing the new store along with working on the companyís new spaceship-like headquarters located in Cupertino, which is expected to open in 2016. The new San-Francisco store will be almost 25,000 square feet, feature a two-floor design with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and have 50 new jobs in the making. According to CNET,
We are thrilled that the city of San Francisco has given its final approval to begin work on our new store and public plaza, which will make a wonderful addition to Union Square and create hundreds of local jobs.
