  • Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference Set for June 6th

    On Monday morning, Apple announced that it will hold its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) June 6 through June 10th. As widely expected, the event will return to San Francisco’s Moscone West, where Apple has a storied history of unveiling new products and software that leave the tech world buzzing.

    Apple says this year's conference will once again herald what the future of computing technology holds, including exciting demonstrations of the "new kinds of apps that developers can build using Apple’s advanced frameworks and more than 100 technical sessions presented by Apple engineers."

    “At this year’s conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, in a press release issued Monday. “If you are an iOS or Mac OS X software developer, this is the event that you do not want to miss.”

    Activities at Apple’s WWDC 2011 include:
    • more than 100 technical sessions presented by Apple engineers on a wide range of technology-specific topics for developing, deploying and integrating the latest iOS and Mac OS technologies;
    • over 1,000 Apple engineers providing developers with code-level assistance, insight into optimal development techniques, and guidance on how they can make the most of iOS and Mac OS technologies in their apps;
    • the opportunity to connect with thousands of fellow iPad, iPhone and Mac developers from around the world; and
    • Apple Design Awards which recognize iPad, iPhone and Mac apps that demonstrate technical excellence, innovation and outstanding design.

      It'd be like buying the plastic macbook today and not being able to run Lion on it.

      I think they will wait untill midyear to release a update that is not supported by the 3gs.. they would have way too many pissed customers if they just cut it right away.

      An article was released an hour ago stating that "sources" believe there will be no iPhone 5 announcement at this year's WWDC.

      There's something else for you fellas to freak out over.

      Just google iPhone 5 and the link will be about 3 or 4 down.

      One, to those of you who say WWDC isnt where the iPhone is unveiled, go google the WWDC from the past 3 years. 2nd, I can't wait to find out about the iPhone 5 & iOS 5. 3rd, I don't think apple will ever remove the requirement of connecting to iTunes to activate b/c I believe that's how they get those people without iTunes accounts to register for one and could potentially lead to app store revenue for Apple if that person makes purchases w/ the account.

      They could just as easily let you signup for an account on the iDevice before letting you make any purchases (free or paid) in the App Store or iTunes Store.
      I really don't think that if you were able to activate the iDevice without connecting it to a computer it would make Apple lose out on iTunes/App Store purchases. You think those people would not buy apps or music from their device?

      Oh get off your high horse. Half of the people in here, if not more, post random comments and opinions. Even most of the ARTICLES posted are based purely on rumors and speculation so I really couldn't give a crap about what you do.

      I'm willing to bet the iPhone 5 will release at a later date, and I say this even though I REALLY want the next iPhone. Just seems more realistic to release it late especially since the iPhone 4 is still at-large with the whole Verizon expansion.

      I think people are putting too much stock in the Verizon iPhone only being released a few months ago. It's just one carrier out of the hundreds that the iPhone 4 has been out on since last June. And it didn't even sell as well as either Verizon, AT&T or Apple expected.
