The iOS 7 Lock Screen could be so much more interesting to look at when you're listening to music, or other media types.
Instead of a boring layout with a square album artwork depiction in the middle, uninteresting straight sliders, and rigid-looking music control buttons, a new jailbreak tweak called Spin
by iOS developer s1ris is now available in Cydia that will give your Lock Screen's 'now playing' feature a new round interface with a much more stylish look and feel, as shown above.
Spin makes everything more round, and that includes not only the album artwork, but also the scrubber slider, and the music control buttons.
In the center, a round depiction of your album artwork is displayed, and orbiting the album artwork is a really cool round music scrubber slider that you can rotate around the album artwork to skip to certain points throughout a song. At the bottom of the interface, play/pause, and forward/backward buttons are available to the user to control and navigate their playlists.
Notably, because Spin takes up significantly less space than Apple's 'now playing' interface, it leaves enough room for the large Lock Screen clock to be displayed at the top, rather than the small Status Bar time.
Spin can also be configured with aesthetic changes, as shown below:
The tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure some of its settings to your liking:
From here, you can enable or disable the tweak on demand, enable or disable having the album artwork as the background of the Lock Screen, enable or disable a lighter blur, enable or disable a dark background, enable or disable larger controls for non-iPad iOS devices, enable or disable 24-hour time, enable or disable a dark cover, enable or disable slide to unlock text, and enable or disable the Status Bar clock. Some settings require a respring to take effect, while the group of settings in the center do not. The preferences pane includes a convenient respring button so you can save these changes when you need to.
Spin is a really cool aesthetic change to the Lock Screen's 'now playing' interface, and if you were looking for a way to spice that up a bit, then we can definitely recommend this tweak. It's available right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository for just 99¢. The tweak requires iOS 7 to be installed.
