On Tuesday, Apple promoted from within and elevated one of its own to the head of its HR department.
Bloomberg confirmed this morning that Denise Young Smith will now lead human resources for Apple.
Despite what has appeared in recent years to be Apple's penchant for hiring outside of the company, this time the tech giant has tapped its own retail-savvy internal talent for the top job in HR. Smith is replacing Joel Podolny, whose talents will now be directed toward Apple University.
Young previously led human resources for Apple’s retail operations, which employed 42,800 of Apple’s 80,300 workers in the latest fiscal year.
