  • 'App Activate Pro' Lets You Assign Activator Actions to Home Screen App Icons

In the middle of last year, we showed you App Activate, a jailbreak tweak that allowed you to assign Activator actions to certain gestures for home screen application icons. It was pretty cool, because you only get so many Activator actions with Activator, and this tweak would give you even more if you needed them.

Unfortunately, App Activate only lets you assign Activator actions to up to five application icons. A new jailbreak tweak called App Activate Pro is now available in Cydia by rjharris, the same iOS developer that brought us App Activate. The pro version of the tweak doesn't have the five application icon limit. You can assign Activator actions to as many application icons as you want; even all of them.

You'll find a preferences pane for App Activate Pro in the Settings application where you can choose the application icons that you want to assign Activator actions to. You can pick them individually, or turn on the "All Apps" feature. If you choose the All Apps feature, all of your application icons can have Activator actions assigned to them, but this will also create a lot of clutter in the Activator preferences pane:

When you enable the application icons that you want to assign Activator actions to, they'll show up under the Activator preferences pane. In our case, we selected the App Store application and the Cydia application. Now when we go to the Activator preferences pane, we can assign an Activator action to double tapping, triple tapping, or even tapping and holding on an application icon.

In the Cydia description, the developer lists some handy uses where assigning Activator actions to application icons could come in handy:

    - Set up the Phone icon so that double tap, triple tap and tap and hold each call a favorite contact.
    - Double tap the Maps or Google Maps icon to start navigation home and tap and hold the Map icon to start navigation home (requires the tweak Activate Link).
    - Double tap the Music icon to play or pause music.
    - Double tap the Mail icon to start writing an email.
    - Double tap the Twitter icon to start writing a tweet.
    - Double tap the Facebook icon to start composing a post.
    - Double tap the Messages icon to write a message or Quick Compose a message using BiteSMS.
    - Triple tap the Messages icon to write a message to a favorite contact.
    - Double tap the Weather icon to launch Siri and have Siri tell you what the weather forecast is (requires the tweak Ask Assistant).
    - Double tap the Camera icon to take a picture.
    - Double tap the Settings icon to open the Wi-Fi settings page and triple tap the Settings icon to open the Location Services settings page.
    - Tap and hold the Settings icon to toggle Airplane Mode.
    - Double tap the Cydia icon to respring your phone and tap and hold the Cydia icon to reboot your phone.
    - Double tap the Clock app to turn you lights on and off or start making a coffee if you have home automation devices with a web API (requires the tweak activate command).
    - Double tap the Safari icon to go to a home page.
    - Double tap the Calendar icon to ask Siri what appointments you have today and tap and hold the Calendar icon to ask Siri what appointments you have tomorrow or this week (requires the tweak Ask Assistant).
    - Tap and hold the Music icon to ask Siri to play a favorite playlist (requires the tweak Ask Assistant).
The possibilities are, of course, not limited to these things. You can use your imagination to make your application icons do just about anything you want when you double tap, triple tap, or even tap and hold on them. It seems like with this many additional Activator actions at your disposal, you'll never run out of open spaces to assign Activator add-ons to.

If you want to give App Activate Pro a shot, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository for 99.

Who has used App Activate Pro yet and does it consume too much processor / battery?

If App Activate Pro is lightweight and stable without bugs, then this is a definite purchase!!

I would also like to know this. If anyone is using, please give feedback.
I want to go for it, as long as it is not super resource heavy..

      Thanks

Thanks for the Activator tip. Activator is always installed as the first and 'best' jailbreak tweak.

Will look at the settings in Activator to be able to achieve App Activate functions without having to install any more or unnecessary tweaks.

      Thanks Lkkwus

I bought it but does the same thing activator does now so if you use activator you don't need this tweak
