  • 'IconOmatic' Un-flattens Your iOS 7 Home Screen Application Icons

One of the biggest beefs with iOS 7 is about how ugly the application icons look now. They're too flat and look like they were made in Microsoft Paint. If you want to add depth back to your Home Screen's application icons and un-flatten them, a new jailbreak tweak called IconOmatic by iOS developer FreeApple is now available in Cydia's ModMyi repository that will help you do just that.

As shown above, IconOmatic makes your iOS 7 application icons look aesthetically pleasing again by adding shadowing, glossy application icon masks, and more. All of this is included in the free version of the tweak, but if you choose to pay into IconOmatic Pro, you'll get additional features such as dynamic application icon shadowing, application icon shrinking, application icon label editing, and more.

IconOmatic adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure a number of options:

Here, you can enable and disable IconOmatic outright on demand, enable or disable individual features on demand, such as the glossy application icon mask, the shadowing, and even the dynamic shadowing. (Users of the regular IconOmatic get 10 free days to test out dynamic shadows, and they can customize things such as the corner radius, shadow radius, opacity, width/height, and more; upgrading to IconOmatic Pro will unlock this feature forever.) Additional features, which are in beta at this point in time, are the ability to remove the blurred dock, and the ability to remove application icon labels. You'll want to respring each time you make changes to save them.

IconOmatic is designed to work with WinterBoard, and comes with three themes you can enable from WinterBoard. The theme we're showing you in the first image of this article is called "iOS6 iconOmatic Theme." WinterBoard isn't necessarily required to use IconOmatic (it'll still change your application icons without it), but you'll get the best visual results using the WinterBoard theme(s) along with IconOmatic. More themes are destined to be added to IconOmatic in the future, but these will get you started.

You can read more about IconOmatic from the source thread right here on the ModMyi Forums by subywrex.

Whether you just want to get rid of those flat iOS 7 application icons, or you want to make your themes pop, IconOmatic is worth taking a look at. It's available in Cydia's ModMyi repository right now for free and works on any iOS 7 iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.

    Name: IconOmatic
    Price: FREE
    Version: 0.6
    Requirements: iOS 7.0-7.0.4
Tested on: iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.4

I'm actually to the point where I cringe if I look at the old icons now. Looks like a pretty well-made tweak though.

Thank you. . We just included the iOS 6 style as an option. Really when I came to Anthony with the idea it was to add the ability to have a shadow again. Then we added an overlay. So now all of your icons will auto theme Agajn to match your theme (assuming the themer includes an iconomatic theme )

Yeah, the gloss/shadow on the new icons looks better than the old icons IMO. The iOS 7 icons look good with the stock wallpaper even without this tweak, but being able to add the shadows and such is definitely a good option to have for custom wallpaper.

I agree. My favorite for the stock icons is the Decke3d theme that comes with our tweak.

Adds a little 3d to the icon and a nice shadow

I can't get this to work right. The dynamic shadows appear on top of the icons.

What are you using to shrink icons?

The icons are the standard size. I have bigify installed but only to hide the labels since Shrink's label hiding doesn't work properly. The icon layout is from Iconoclasm. I'll try uninstalling bigify and see if that helps.

      Update:
Looks like having bigify installed was the issue.

Yes bigify is the issue. Luckily we have an option for hiding labeled

      Very pretty on my i4S.
      Prettier than vanilla iOS-6 even.
      Great work, guys.

Awesome tweak. I can adjust shadows and so much for each wallpaper. Must have.

Could you make it work with Shrink so that the shadow resizes with the icons? Right now the icon shrinks but the shadows appears as if the icon was full size.

Unfortunately this is not because of our tweak. Shrink and bigify do not size icons the correct way. They re arrange the way the icon is coded and bring views to the front that should not.

Springtomize 3 sizes icons the right way. They size the icon the label and the badge all with the icon. There tweak also keeps the shadow where it needs to be

Except Springtomize 3 cannot resize icons anywhere except the dock...

Shrink works fine with your tweak except the shadow does not change size with the icon. Bigify does not work with your tweak.

I have the same problem, some shadows block out the icons completely. I don't use Bigify. The ones I have is Springtomize 3 (I don't shrink my icons outside of the dock), Barrel, CCQuickPro, CyDelete7, Motion (but not enabled), MultiIconMover, VirtualHome, and Zeppelin.
      Any suggestions?

Springtomize resizes everywhere you do it seperately. You can resize dock, springboard and icons in a folder.

The reason shrink is not working right is because they are not sizing down the label with the icon

What icons are having black over them?

Please tell me where in Springtomize I can resize the springboard icons? There are options to do it for the dock and the folders but not for the general springboard icons.

Also by default Shrink sizes the labels and badges with the icon. It just goes a step further and let's you resize them separately as well.

Go to the pages settings in springtomize
