  • Remote Messages Now Available for iOS 7 Lets You Text/iMessage From Any Computer

Mac users have the luxury of having an iMessage client on their OS X machines, but Windows users don't. And another thing neither Mac users nor Windows users can easily read and send SMS messages from their iPhones right from their computer. Well, not without a jailbreak tweak called Remote Messages by iOS developer iBeast Soft, that is.

Remote Messages 3.0 has just been released in Cydia with full support for iOS 7. It's a $1.99 upgrade from Remote Messages 2.0, and for new users that haven't ever owned Remote Messages before, it's $3.99.

This tweak allows you to keep both your iMessage conversations and your SMS conversations in sync between your iPhone and your Web browser on any of your personal computers that are running a supported Web browser this works for multiple operating systems, Mac OS X and Windows included. It works by using your home Wi-Fi network, and a little networking magic.

Once installed, you'll find a preferences pane in the Settings application where you can configure a few options, as well as find some information that you're going to need to use the tweak:

You'll be able to enable or disable the tweak on demand, and you'll use the IP address and server port to view your iMessages and SMS messages on your Web Browser. You'll type the IP address, then a colon, then the port in your Web Browser's URL bar, and you'll be able to sign in with your username and password, which you set from the tweak's preferences pane.

Remote Messages 3.0 for iOS 7 includes full support for file attachments, access to your Camera Roll, drafts, Emoji, message searching, notifications for typing, themes, and more. The tweak is compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit iOS 7 devices, and works on Web Browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and even some mobile Web Browsers.

For a detailed look at all the features of Remote Messages, little has changed from our original post, so you can find everything you need here.

Want to give Remote Messages (iOS 7) a try? It's available right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository.

How easy is this on a lap top when you're jumping from network to network?

I believe you could set up a bluetooth connection and use the internal ip address there

Hmmm....so this tweak is only for Windows users? On my Mac, all my conversations in iMessage syncs exactly on all of my iDevices, no jailbreak required.

As stated in the article, this tweak is not only for Windows users.

It's for just about any operating system, and it works through your browser.

Remote Messages allows you to see not only iMessage, but ALSO your SMS messages in your Web browser.

iMessage on your Mac only shows you iMessages and NOT SMS messages, and this is where Remote Messages comes in handy.

Correct, but you wont be able to send SMS's from your Mac, unlike this tweak which enables both SMS and IMessage from their web interface.

Been waiting for this! One of my favorite apps and reason to jailbreak! I usually leave my phone charging on my dresser. With this, I can stay at my computer working and don't have to get up to check or send messages. You can even use photos in your computer to send in messages.

Anyone have any input? I got a Note 3 for Christmas and though I love certain features about it, I miss the simplicity of my iPhone, the iOS Services, and the integration it had between all of my Apple devices (not to mention the jailbreak came out right when I got a new phone). While I am trying to trade it for an iPhone on Craigslist, could this be an alternative to let me iMessage from the Android? Like load up the webpage or something on my phone

Easy when you use your phone's .local name.

Eg. My phone is named "reeiiko's iPhone", so I would type into my browser "http://reeiikos-iphone.local:333" and it will work on any network without having to change the IP

Shame the upgrade isn't .99 for those that bought previously, but nice work.

my boss uses an app on his computer called Mightytext, it does this same thing for android phones, and does not require any type of jailbreak, but it only works with android phones, it can send texts to multiple people at once and more I guess, I don't know as I doont have an android phone, but he showed me once and I was hoping for this type of app for the iPhone, and low and behold here it is! but if you want this function for your Note3 then just google "mightytext" and you will find it right on top!

Oh, and by the way I have an iPhone 4 16gb, just sitting here at the house if you want to trade for the note3, hit me up and I will be happy to trade!!! (I use it as an Ipod currently, and it is Jailbroken!) but use an iPhone 4s as my phone these days(found it broken in a Trash can, spent $60 to fix it and now it works great!)

This Program Rocks!!!!!, been using it for 20 min and it's heaven to text from a real keyboard!!!

I have mighty text. I have been an android user for the last 3 years before getting the iphone 5s. I really missed the ability to text from my computer with the iphone. Looks like I will be buying this one.

To Joshman, mighty text works great and google chrome has an extension for mighty text. You get notified of messages too. Very cool app for texting thru your computer using your cell phone's number and carrier.

Make sure you have iTunes installed on your computer or it won't work. And to enable sounds, press the Settings button next to "Send", go to Sounds and turn it on.
