Many of you are probably familiar with Pluck
, a handy jailbreak tweak for iOS 6 that allowed you to queue music from your music library and play it in the order that you queued it.
The developer behind this nice jailbreak tweak, ravirajm, has released Pluck 2
, an updated version of this popular tweak (although a separate Cydia package) that is compatible with iOS 7.
As shown above, Pluck 2 takes advantage of iOS 7 by not only adding a Pluck button to the bottom left of the Lock Screen, but also to iOS 7's Control Center to the right of the media controls.
While on the Lock Screen, you can tap and hold on the Pluck button to bring up a music sheet that will let you select songs to add to your queue. While in Control Center, you don't need to tap and hold – just tap – and it will bring up the same music sheet. When you select songs that will be added to your music queue, the "+" button will turn gray, indicating that the song has been added. When finished, you can tap on the "Done" button, and your queue will be made and the music will start playing:
Pluck 2 adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure a few important options:
You'll be able to enable or disable the tweak for either the Lock Screen and/or Control Center, and then pick whether or not you want the button to be light or dark on the Lock Screen and/or Control Center. Depending on your wallpaper on the Lock Screen, you might change this to improve visibility of the Pluck button. You'll also find a feature for enabling the ability to pick more than one song, and the ability to include iCloud songs, or only show local songs.
Pluck 2 is a great jailbreak tweak for all music-lovers that take advantage of Apple's stock Music application, but unfortunately, it's not meant to be used with third-party music applications like Spotify, Pandora, Rdio, and others. Pluck is compatible with all iOS 7 iPhones and iPod touches, but not yet the iPad. If you want to give it a try, it's available for 99¢ in Cydia's BigBoss repository. If you own Pluck already, then Pluck 2 is a free upgrade.
