  • 'QuickContacts' Lets You Access Your Favorite Contacts Easily From the Home Screen

We recently showed you a way to add your favorite contacts to Notification Center in iOS 7, but if you don't want to be cluttering up your Notification Center, then you can add them to the SpotLight interface instead with a new jailbreak tweak called QuickContacts by iOS developer DarkMalloc.

What this tweak will do is let you open the SpotLight interface from the home screen, and from there you'll be brought to an interface that gives you quick access to your favorite contacts. You can swipe to the right while in the QuickContacts interface to bring up SpotLight and the keyboard, or you can swipe to the left to see more of your favorite contacts; you can have up to 8 of them.

Your favorite contacts are set by tapping on the placeholders in the interface. Once you tap on one, you'll be brought to a list of your contacts, and you'll need to tap on a contact name to add it to your QuickContacts interface. Their contact photo will show up in the interface when the contact is added. If you want to change an existing favorite contact, you will need to tap and hold on one to change it to another contact.

Once you have all, or at least some, of your favorite contacts added to the QuickContacts interface, you can tap on any of them to easily call, message, or e-mail them. You'll get the polished interface below:

QuickContacts is a slick way to access any of your favorite contacts from the home screen. Not only is it functionally useful, but it looks iOS 7-esque, almost like it belongs there. The tweak is compatible with any iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 7.0-7.0.4, but not with any iPads. The tweak has no options to configure. If you want to give it a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository for $1.99.

    Name: QuickContacts
    Price: $1.99
    Version: 1.0-23
Requirements: iOS 7.0-7.0.4, iPhone or iPod touch
Tested on: iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.4
    Repo: BigBoss
    Developer: DarkMalloc

you can find your contacts in spotlight, without using this tweak. just type your fav contact and voila there he/she is

      Edit: pointless crap

tweaks used to be useful, now all we get is ****

Typing in a contacts name, of course, takes more time and effort than swiping down and tapping on a picture.

God forbid you're driving (don't do that while texting), or multitasking, something like this can make all the difference in time and efficiency.

Don't use your iDevice at all while driving, keep the roads safe

      @Own3d maybe I should

you've convinced me. I'm deleting this immediately. I thought it was convenient and cool, but I see now that I was wrong and this is pointless since I can just pull down, type, scroll, tap, wait for the contact to open, then tap again. that is much better than pulling down and tapping.

Customizing your device beyond Apple's imagination to make your life easier is the point of jailbreaking.

It's not really for developers to make tweaks only for the sole purpose of being gouged with "well we can already do this by..."

Sure. But the point here is shortcuts.

We can technically all theme our devices' application icons without WinterBoard, but as users can simply download WinterBoard and tap a button to enable a theme, it's more widely used, because it's easier.
