Google Play Movies & TV Lands on iOS
On Wednesday, Apple welcomed to the iOS ecosystem Google Play Movies & TV, which will now compete with iTunes.
For Google, it's an important release on iOS, as the app lets users watch Google media content on iDevices. But comparable to the Amazon's Kindle app, users can't purchase content from within the app. Purchases must still take place using the browser on iPhone or iPad.
"Buy or rent movies by visiting Google Play Store on any computer and watch them from any device over Wi-Fi using the Google Play Movies & TV app," Google says in its app description.
Uncomplicated as can be, the app permits relatively effortless viewing and browsing of content (TV shows and movies), and there is also a Chromecast button to enable streaming of your videos to the TV.
Free and available now as a 4.9MB download, the app requires iOS 6.0 or later and its compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The app, however, is optimized for iPhone 5.
