  • 'iTouchSecure' Gives iPhone 5s Users a Way to Easily Input Passwords Using Touch ID

Chances are, you have a ton of passwords; and you might even use some of them on a regular basis on your iPhone. If you have an iPhone 5s, and you're tired of constantly signing into services by manually tying your passwords, you can take advantage of a new jailbreak tweak called iTouchSecure by SpiritOfLogic, the makers of popular tweaks like iRealSMS, PwnTunes, and PhotoAlbums+.

iTouchSecure makes your life easier by letting you use your fingerprint with Touch ID to automatically input stored passwords into the password field. Once you input a password once, it's saved in an encrypted Password Keychain, and then iTouchSecure will ask you to verify your fingerprint. If your fingerprint checks out, then the password field will be auto-filled with the password saved in your Password Keychain. (You can still type out your password manually, if you choose to, of course.)

iTouchSecure works in App Store applications, such as Facebook, Twitter, and others; it also works in Web views in Mobile Safari.

When a sign-in prompt comes up, you'll enter your username, and if the box is yellow, that means there is not yet a password stored for that sign-in and you need to sign in at least once. If the password box is green and shows a Touch ID icon, this is telling you that the tweak sees a password for your username and that you can use Touch ID to auto-fill the password box by verifying your fingerprint.

You can check out the developer's demonstration video below:

iTouchSecure also works with devices that don't have a Touch ID sensor. Those who only want the password auto-fill feature for any password, but donít require the fingerprint authentication security can install it on non-iPhone 5s devices to get this feature. It works best on the iPhone 5s, however.

iTouchSecure looks to be a very promising tweak for iPhone 5s users, and for sure, it's one of the most impressive tweaks we've seen for iOS 7 yet. The implementation of the tweak appears to be very straightforward for users, and very useful too. If you want to download iTouchSecure, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository for $4.99.

      I'd buy for $2.99, not $4.99.

Can’t imagine why Apple didn’t implement something like this to begin with. There must be some potential security concern, or they’re just holding back for a future “new feature”

Either way, I think I’ll wait until Apple does it. I’m not trusting some random third party dev with my fingerprints.

I bought this and it works great.
Saves so much time not having to enter passwords on a daily basis.
Think of it being PasswordPilot, but you use you're TouchID instead.
I don't think the price is too high for this added convenience.
It works consistently and I haven't had any problems with it so far.

Really? The extra TWO DOLLARS will break you? Everyone wants tweaks and cool hacks but many people don't want to pay for them. You people can't refuse to support the market then complain when the market goes away due to lack of funding.

I bought this as soon as it came out.

The Dev did say this on twitter:

Regarding upgrade fees: just paid over 1000$ for an IDA Pro upgrade I needed for iPhone 5S programming/reverse engineering for PwnTunes etc.

You understand the reach these devs get? A single tweak can range from a few hundred to thousands of downloads. If you do $5x50000, you start talking a lot of money. With that said a tweak this simple should not hold a $5 price tag.

Works great, well worth the $4.99 IMO. Although there are some bugs where the auto login option isn't working yet.

Is this patented or can I expect to see Droid using it soon?

First, "tweak this simple?" Are you serious? What an idiotic statement.

Second, so how much money should this guy be allowed to make? You obviously think you're the final arbitrator of someone else's earning potential.

If you ask me. This tweak is a lot more valuable than some of the high grossing apps in the App Store. Rainbow dragons aren't useful for me. This helps me be more efficient.
