  • 'NCObey' Makes it Easier to Access Notification Center Tabs in iOS 7

With iOS 7, Apple changed Notification Center around quite a bit. Instead of a single window that you can slide into by dragging down from the Status Bar, Notification Center in iOS 7 is now a window with three different tabs Today, All, and Missed.

You might have a favorite tab that you like to use in Notification Center, or maybe you want quick access to your notifications, or you might even just want quick access to your Today tab so you can see your Calendar, Stocks, and more. Whatever the case may be, a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed NCObey by iOS developer Max Katzmann gives you a very intuitive way of immediately launching the Notification Center tab that you want.

The tweak makes it so that depending on where on the Status Bar you drag down, the tab your finger is the closest to will be the tab that gets opened.

For example, since the "Today" tab of Notification Center is located on the left side of Notification Center, if you drag down from the left side of the Status Bar, you will launch Notification Center and the Today tab:

Since the "All" tab of Notification center is located in the middle of Notification Center, if you drag down from the center of the Status Bar, you will launch Notification Center and the All tab:

And last but not least, since the "Missed" tab of Notification center is located on the right side of Notification Center, if you drag down from the right side of the Status Bar, you will launch Notification Center and the Missed tab:

For those that want to fine-tune their access to Notification Center's various tabs even further, NCObey comes with a preferences pane in the Settings application:

From here, you can enable or disable the tweak on demand, enable or disable swiping between tabs while you're dragging down from the Status Bar, choose a default section that will always be opened when you launch Notification Center, or make it so that the Today tab is the default tab when you have no pending notifications. The pane also includes a respring button, as a respring is required to save your changes.

NCObey proves to be a very solid tweak for those looking to get more control out of Notification Center in iOS 7. The fine-grained settings just add to the tweak's usefulness. If you want to give NCObey a try, it's available for free in Cydia's BigBoss repository. The tweak is compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit iOS devices.
