'SwitcherDismiss' Closes the App Switcher After a User-defined Amount of Time
Apple’s App Switcher in iOS will stay open as long as you’re in it, whether you're using your device or not.
If you want to have the App Switcher close automatically after a user-defined time, there’s a new free jailbreak tweak available by iOS developer sharedRoutine dubbed SwitcherDismiss
available in Cydia.
After you install SwitcherDismiss, you will see a new preferences pane in the Settings application:
From here, you will be able to easily enable or disable the tweak on demand. In addition, you can type in the amount of seconds after which the App Switcher will close automatically for you. You don't need to perform a respring each time to change the settings. They'll take effect immediately.
For our example, we typed 10 seconds into the preferences pane. Now, when we open the App Switcher, if 10 seconds go by and we haven't done anything in the App Switcher, it will close automatically. If you were in an application when you opened the App Switcher, the App Switcher will close and you'll return to that application. Otherwise, it'll close and you'll be returned to your home screen.
You can also still close out of the App Switcher manually by tapping anywhere outside of an application card, or by using your home button as usual.
This tweak is a pretty nice fail-safe in case you have launched the App Switcher by mistake in your pocket. It'll prevent you closing applications by accident as you reach your hand into your pocket and brush up against your iOS device's touch screen.
If you want to give SwitcherDismiss a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository for free.
