  • Apple Opening Retail Store 300 Miles South of the Arctic Circle

Some of the hottest gadgets in mobile technology are headed for one of the coldest places on earth. According to information gathered by ifoAppleStore, Apple is planning to open a retail store at the Fifth Avenue Mall in Anchorage, Alaska. This store will become the northern-most Apple store in existence, only 320 miles south of the Arctic Circle.

According to the original tip, the fit-out is underway inside the former Eddie Bauer space on the second level of the downtown mall.
For months, speculation has swirled about a forthcoming Apple store in Alaska, a state in which there are presently no Apple retail outlets. But with the addition of the Anchorage facility, yet another name can be checked off the list of states that still lack an Apple store. Arkansas, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming are still without an Apple store to call their own.

Construction schedules at the Anchorage site suggest the store will open in September. The property, however, will not be a grand structure by comparison to other Apple stores in the hopper around the world. As MMi reported earlier this week, Apple's biggest retail ventures are presently planned for China, where the new Shanghai store may soon become Apple's busiest and most lucrative.

Seriously - it's just a store in Anchorage. Anchorage has lots of stores. It is a small city, but still a city...

And In-N-Out sucks. I have never understood the fascination with this place. It isn't even good burgers, and their menu (even the "secret" one) is lousy.

If you want a good burger chain from CA check out "Fatburger". Otherwise, I am sure Texas has much better burger chains than In-N-Out. (In-N-Out is no better than Wataburger).

Yeah, Five Guys is pretty good - we just got them in Oregon. They are 100 times better than In-N-Out though. Seriously, I think people just claim to like In-N-Out so they can be "cool" like those Californians...

I don't understand why they won't open one in Puerto Rico, San Juan. They have a very nice upscale mall there with all sorts of snooty stores. lol

And the means to get there. The iROCKET. Of course with buggy Apple software it'll probably shoot you straight into the Sun instead. But don't worry....Apple will patch up that little glitch soon enough.

Amen.....not even the iPhone 5 could satisfy me more. Probably.

And another thing.......what's the point in putting "300 miles South of the Arctic Circle."

What's wrong with just putting "Anchorage, Alaska". I'm sure the people who live there know how close or far it is from the Arctic Circle.

      Conversation:

      "Hey guess what bro!"

      "What!"

"Apple has three retail stores 74 miles south of Austin, TX and 560 miles East of El Paso, TX."

"Well where the f**k is that?"

      "San Antonio, TX."

"Oh....well why didn't you just say that."

      "Good point!"
      LMAO! WIN!!

Because tourists buy stuff like that at home. Why would anybody buy a Mac in San Juan, when they can get it at home in Chicago?

Yes, I'm aware that there are people who live in Puerto Rico, and have money, but the Market is too small. Especially considering the median family income there is only $17,000, $13,000 below Mississippi.

Animal fries! Nuff said. The only reason I pick In n Out over Five Guys is PRICE. But Five Guys wins in taste.
