  • BiteSMS' Seventh Beta Released, Brings Support for the iPhone 5S

The popular BiteSMS app has recently been updated with full support for Apple’s iPhone 5S. For those of you who didn’t already know, the BiteSMS team has been pushing out builds rather quickly over the holiday season. In the last 11 days alone there has been a total of six beta releases to the BiteSMS test repository, with each one completing a small part of the puzzle that will ultimately involve a release of a stable version of BiteSMS that supports the latest firmware as well as Apple’s new iPhone with its 64-bit processor. Much like other complex jailbreak packages, it takes a substantial amount of work to bring it up to speed and make it work with the ARM64 architecture.

The seventh and most recent beta release of BiteSMS in its current form introduces a number of important bug fixes and general stability improvements. Anyone upgrading from the last substantial beta at the beginning of January should notice a dramatic improvement in the overall usability of the product. This latest push of the powerful texting tool is the first version that has brought iPhone 5S support to the mix. The team is stating that iPhone 5S support was a big accomplishment and they should now be able to go through a thorough testing stage and push onward from here.

The official changelog of the beta 7 release mentioned the following:

    Compatible with iPhone 5S devices.

Bug fixes and some user interface improvements.
The initial beta release of BiteSMS for iOS 7 was released on December 27th and hopefully it won’t be long until we see the release of a fully functioning version of BiteSMS. Those of you interested in downloading it just need to add the following repo to your list: http://test-cydia.bitesms.com

Hopefully you guys that are installing it are having success, I've read reports with crashes & icon issues upon install. Hopefully the Bite crew can get it up to the same level as the iOS6 7.5 version. Even tho it had a few issues itself...

Also it's been discovered this BiteSMS now removes your stock Messages app...is that necessary?

No issues for me at all. I actually like that it replaces stock Messages app.

I don't mind it switching out the messages app at all. I just wish that I had the option of keeping the original messages icon. Not a fan of BiteSMS's icon.

Not sure why this is talking about a beta 7 release when version 8 is already out on beta as well...

I did indeed - and still got the 7 day license. License recognition is broken in this release.
