  • Steve Jobs Attends Dinner with Barack Obama and Tech Leaders

President Barack Obama met with Silicon Valley executives on Thursday over dinner to discuss how to boost the US economy through technological innovation and increase the number of jobs in the United States. The dinner was held at the home of John Doerr a venture capitalist with the firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. The group was photographed while giving a toast and the picture was later released on the official White House flickr page.

According to the White House, “The president and the business leaders will discuss our shared goal of promoting American innovation, and discuss his commitment to new investments in research and development, education and clean energy.”

Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who has been on a medical leave of absence since January, sat next to President Obama, with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg on the President’s right. Twitter chief executive **** Costolo was also in attendance. When asked about the dinner by another Twitter employee, his reply was simply, “@jess sadly no. i was in a part of the bay area where the tweets cant get in or out!”

So far only two photos have been released from the dinner. Members of the media were not invited to the dinner, as this was a private affair. The only other picture to come out of the meeting was of President Obama talking to Mark Zuckerberg. One tech giant not in attendance was Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. It was later reported that he was not invited to the dinner because Microsoft is not located in Silicon Valley. Very little information has come out since the dinner on Thursday night.

Please dont bring your politcal views into a tech discussion. Lots of people have different views, and I could name a lot of things he has done, but I wont because it is off topic to the main point. Thanks!

      Could get interesting tho.

And Balmer not being there might have a touch more to do with his political views than the location of microsoft me thinks.

Advancements in tech will create more jobs, this is true. But it's also going to destroy them. We are beginning to move away from human interaction all over the place. At the airport, the average passenger doesn't even end up talking to anyone before they go through security. It is virtually impossible to buy your ticket in any way other than online. You are either required to check in and print your boarding pass from home, or at a kiosk. Grocery stores now have self check out, with more and more stores moving towards this. Hell, even one of the local oil change places has you tell a computer what you want, pay via credit card, drive your car into a garage, where it is serviced. This is all in the name of convenience, yet in all cases there are far fewer or even no workers, meaning this tech advancement has eliminated these jobs.

Perhaps. Apple features only Democratic apps. You saw two apps featured at the same time for "The Rally to Restore Sanity" and...zero for "The Rally to Restore Honor", plus they literally featured "The Democratic Party" and only left-leaning news organizations! Obama definitely has no problem with Jobs. It also seemed Apple didn't really want to work with the guys at "The Daily", a branch of Fox.

Yes, it was pretty easy because he had the entire main stream media building him up everyday to be some type of messiah. They did and they still are covering for Obama everyday. If the media reported the truth about him and what he really believes his approval ratings would be in the teens. You need to wake up and start voting for people based on their track record and beliefs and NOT because they would be the first at something. If you still support Obama after what he's done over the past two years then you must be one of the 47% of Americans that don't pay taxes. Pretty sad!

      Good idea.

The stock market is up 85% since it's post-collapse low in March 2009.

      85%!!!

That's why I'll be voting to re-elect President Obama next year. I want 4 more years of that!

I want less debt. He won't be able to do anything when the government shuts down.

This sounds more like meet the press than modmyi... Can't believe how people give the prez so much grief for 3 years of recovering, albeit slowly, and gave George Bush & co 8 years of digging us into this. Fact is when Obama leaves office it'll look better than when Bush left.... Anyways what's up with the black turtle neck thing? Lol I feel like I'm watching cartoons when I see Steve Jobs, he only has one outfit?

It only had one way to go at that point...

Way too many people falsely put ALL blame bush for the market collapse, and an equally large amount of people give Obama way too much credit for being it's saving grace.
