  • iFile Gets Updated With Support for iOS 7, New Interface

On Monday, the highly popular iFile filesystem browser for iOS was updated to version 2.0 bringing full support for iOS 7, including an all-new user interface with an iOS 7 look and feel, and a new application icon. You can see a glance of the new application user interface above, and a glance at the new application icon below:

In addition to the support for iOS 7, the update also fixes a problem that could cause a crash when the user tries inputting PayPal information for their registration, fixes a problem that kept iFile from being killed via the iOS 7 App Switcher, and fixed a number of other small various bugs. The full change log for the latest version of iFile 2.0 can be found at this link.

iFile 2.0 works on both 32-bit and 64-bit devices, but runs in 32-bit mode on either kind of device.

To get the latest version of iFile, head over to Cydia's BigBoss repository and find the latest version of the package within. If you have it installed already, you'll find iFile 2.0 under the Changes tab in Cydia.

I would like to purchase it, however, it will not allow me because Cydia says it isn't certified to work on my device (iPhone 5S). It does let me use the free trial though. Anybody know how to purchase it another way? Or should I just wait for the Mobile Substrate and purchase it later?

You can't buy it on any device yet, yes, you need to wait for Mobile Substrate.

Odd, I seen tweets of iFile working on the iFile Dev's 5S! It doesn't rely on Mobile Substrate. I have this latest version of iFile installed on my 4S & I've refused to install MS & it registered straight away when I opened it.

It's not that it doesn't work, I would like to purchase a full license is all.

U can't purchase as that's to do with Cydia but if u had on any other of your devices it should register.Well it did for me & I've usually had issues in the past registering but this time it was fast!

I love ifile! It has been with me since 3.1.3 I do believe... ifile has helped me to make many a iPhone my phone! Installed ifile on a 5s the day the evasi0n jailbreak came out last week... I had read and then experienced first hand how it wasn't letting people do anything except use the free version, registering a previously purchased license wasn't happening... After this update today (still says that it's not supported on my device on Cydia's package listing) I fired ifile up and was stoked that the license I previously purchased was automatically registered... First order of business: Change UI Sounds to Star Wars sounds using text tones purchased on iTunes... Changed my lock and unlock sounds to a light saber powering up and powering down like I always do... Rebooted and had no unlock sound but the lock sound worked fine... Went back in to ifile and changed the unlock sound backed to the original and rebooted, still no unlock sound... I posted for advice earlier on this issue and got a response: QUOTE=King_O_Hill;6974712]There's got to be a cache file that needs to be cleared.[/QUOTE] So maybe icleaner might help? Any other ideas?

      tweet from saurik:

"Substrate 0.9.5000 has been released, with support for iOS 7 and ARM64. (For extensions to work on ARM64, they must be recompiled to ARM64.)"

      and limneos (bring on callbar!):

"Now that Cydia Substrate is out fully supporting arm64 and iOS7,updates are coming soon for all of my apps (give me 2 days for New Year's "
