  • Evasi0n iOS 7 Untether Package Updated to Version 0.2

On Christmas Eve, the evad3rs released an updated version of the evasi0n7 jailbreak tool, dubbed version 1.0.1. The updated tool had TaiG removed, and included some features for Saurik, which would be used later for a number of packages in Cydia.

On Friday, the evad3rs have updated the evasi0n 7.x untether package in Cydia to version 0.2 for those that used evasi0n 1.0 to jailbreak their iOS 7 devices. This is the same version of the evasi0n 7.x untether package that is installed with evasi0n7 version 1.0.1, so if you jailbroke your iOS device with evasi0n7 version 1.0.1, you won't need to find and install this update.

The updated package removes the TaiG splash screen and adds features that Saurik can use for updates to some of his packages, including Mobile Substrate. With that being said, it's recommended that everyone that hasn't already updated to the latest version of the evasi0n 7.x untether package updates as soon as possible.

Users will not need to respring or reboot after installing the update for the evasi0n 7.x untether, but it certainly can't hurt to do so. Just remember that by rebooting, you'll need to re-install Mobile Substrate and then respring your device (one way to do this is by re-installing a jailbreak tweak) in order to jump-start Mobile Substrate again. Once Mobile Substrate is officially updated, you won't have to do this anymore. You should avoid third-party Mobile Substrate patches to preserve the integrity of your stable jailbreak.

This update on 4s crashed my mail app, calaculator app, and safari app (They open and immediately close). Lots of people talking about this on other sites (ie: iclarified etc...) but do not see that here. I had VERY little installed due to the fact there's not much to install due the mobile substrate issues. Not complaining, but hopefully people are aware and its being worked on. Anyone else on this site?

Interesting, that is what happens when you open those apps if your device is jailbroken with a tethered jailbreak and you have not booted with redsn0w or whatever tool you used.

Yeah I can't open mail or safari on my 4th generation iPad. No problems on my 5s though. I'm sure it's probably a tweak stopping it from opening but I'm to lazy to figure especially since I use Chrome as my browser and Mailbox app as my mail client.

Also just want to through it out there that I have major problems jail breaking my iPad. After a successful jailbreak whenever I restored a backup via iTunes Cydia would miraculously disappear.

I'd out the iPad into DFU mode, restore, jailbreak again and get the same results after iTunes back up restore. I did this like 4 times and then finally took the risk of jail breaking my already jail broken iPad. I just ran the first part that adds the Evasion icon, deleted it, respring and then Cydia was back.

Wish me luck, but hopefully I don't run into problems later on down the road.

If you run a restore of any kind, restoring from a backup you have saved, or a fresh restore in iTunes, it will remove the Jailbreak.

Nope not here with I5 and I4 both working perfect so far, Did you do everything as the team told you? It important to have restored the phone fresh virgin before the JB for it to function right.

No it does not, I did it twice to my I4 and twice to my I5 both times each JB WAS not removed by restoring Iphone from back up, the restore from back up function does not replace the IOS. For some reason many keep saying this but its wrong, Once you restore an Iphone using IOS restore and its activated its done, then when you restore from your back up this only restore settings, contacts, notes texts and anything else it can sync.

      Follow the teams instructions:
      back up phone on itunes
Download your IOS and then shift restore itunes and choose the Downloaded IOS file, restore to new Iphone and do not put in password.
      Jailbreak
      Restore from backup
Start cydia and full update it

      enjoy

One last note everybody, Mobile substrate is not 100% yet, From what I understand you need this updated for the JB and tweaks to work well, I may be wrong but I think its why JB is buggy

Would I be correct to assume that your talk of mobile substrate is for non 64 bit platform?

My understanding is that mobile substrate is not updated for all yet.

"Currently, Mobile Substrate, the dependency used by many jailbreak tweaks in Cydia, has not yet been updated with support for iOS 7, or for 64-bit iOS devices. This is the reasoning behind needing to re-install Mobile Substrate and then needing to respring every time you reboot your device, and is also the reason that jailbreak tweaks are not working on 64-bit devices like the iPhone 5s and iPad Mini with retina display.

I too have this problem but on my 5S. It, like said before, usually happens for tethered jailbreaks but since 4s+ can't be tethered it's a rare occurrence. I cannot open my mail, safari, calculator, or weather. I'm really only worried about the calculator and weather cause those are my preferred apps.
I too use chrome instead of safari and sparrow instead of mail. But I have almost 0 tweaks due to the whole thing with no 64bit support. I'm going to try reinstalling a tweak though to see if that causes any changes.

      EDIT
I have now uninstalled every tweak on my device except for iFile, resprung twice (I found other tweaks after the first respring from removing tweaks), reinstalled iFile, rebooted. Now all my apps work again.
However, my status bar text stays black so idk if that will be fixed later or not. I'll just have to wait and see.

For all those experiencing the mail, safari, etc. problems, delete ******* and install a different version. Look up which version works, I forgot. Don't delete cache or anything, just delete ******* and install a known stable version, then reboot or respring, prob the latter. Good luck!

I had the same problem on my ipad. I did a restore and the whole process (with evasion) all over again. Now it`s fine.
I suppose the reason is not evasion, but some iOS7 incompatible tweaks from Cydia (ZeusMos,etc...)

What's Jailbreak?! Hahahaha nahnahnah I was kidding, easiest jailbreak In a long time... iPhone 5s with no troubles whatsoever... All apps are working fine, battery life hasn't changed... Easy breezy... Now I patiently await Mr. Freeman's update to mobile substrate...

I understand mobile substrate hasn't been updated yet in relation to 64 bit architecture but I can't find any tweaks that work properly on my iPhone 5, 4s, iPad 2. And I'm reading others are having the same issue, I've already did the whole reinstall, restoring ordeal. No activator actions work either, when Intry to open sbsettings with a swipe it fails. I tried to post a picture but mmi says I can't. ,,!,,

Mobile Substrate on non-A7 phones will only work reasonably well after you've installed BootStrap. Then you'll have slightly more success with MobileSubstrate-based tweaks on 4, 4S, 5, 5C. Only f.lux, iFile, Mobile Terminal & OpenSSH work on 5S at this point.

Just sharing what worked for me after uninstalling what I could through cydia. Install iFile (if you haven't already). Open iFile and navigate to /var/mobile/Library/Caches (or User/Library/Caches as they are the same, just a shortcut). Scroll all the way down and delete the following 2 files from this folder a) "com.apple.LaunchServices-054.csstore" (your numbers may be different, I'm not sure, but just find the similarly named file. There's only 1 like it) b) "com.apple.mobile.installation.plist". Close iFile and reboot your iPhone (Don't freak out, if you did this right your AppStore installed app icons will be gone but reappear almost immediately. Make sure that your previously-crashing apps now open properly (which they now should).

Why would you us MyWi on an iPhone 5S.. When personal hotspot is there and free no matter what plan you're on?

If I use that won't I pay for the data? That's the reason why I jailbroke my phone in the first place?
