  • Twitter Rumored to Soon Allow Users to Edit Their Tweets... Once... Other Caveats Too

Twitter is rumored to be working on a new feature to allow users to edit their Tweets rather than if a mistake is made, having to delete your Tweet and completely re-write it again. Sources say that the feature is intended more for businesses so that mistakes can be easily corrected.

Twitter is working on a new feature that would allow users to edit tweets once they are published, three sources close to the project have confirmed to The Desk.

Those sources, who asked to be identified only as Twitter employees, say the feature has been a top priority at the company for months as Twitter pushes to expand partnerships among media organizations and original content producers.
The Desk has been given some interesting details regarding the matter. The edit feature would only be available for a limited amount of time per Tweet so that users couldn't edit a Tweet several months or years old, and Tweets could only be edited once in their lifetime to prevent multiple changes. Notably, the changes would take effect immediately on the user's Twitter Feed, and all user Re-tweets would also carry the new edit along with them.

Twitter is also looking into options to prevent misuse of the editing feature for malicious purposes. Facebook, a popular alternative to Twitter, gets around this by showing a small "Edited" line under the post or comment to alert all Facebook users that the post or comment is not in its original form.

Certainly, the ability to edit Tweets will save users a bunch of frustration in using the social network. Twitter hasn't officially stated anything about the new rumored feature just yet.

Not sure why simple things like editing what you stated is not incorporated from the start. They add it 10 years later and act like they are doing something? jokes.

Twitter hasn't been around 10 years yet. Has it?
