  • Google Releases an Update for Chromecast Which Adds Support for 10 New Apps

Google recently released an update to its Chromecast streaming media device that adds support for 10 new apps. The over-the-air update will be distributed automatically to Chromecast devices that are connected to a wireless network. This update gives users the ability to stream music, news, sports and other content from mobile and web pages like BeyondPod, PostTV, Red Bull TV, Revision 3, Songza, VEVO and Viki. The revised software also offers access to the Ava, Plex and RealPlayer Cloud apps. According to Google the new channels will be rolling out to iOS, Android and Chrome shortly.

For those of you who didnít already know, Chromecast which retails for $35 can now play local files synced with the Plex media library from iOS, Android or Chrome. Plex support was highly requested and offers a major advantage for content consumers who are looking to play content from a device to an HDTV.

Are any of you excited about the update or getting tempted to pick up the Chromecast media device as a result of the update?
