  • iOS 7 is Already Running on 74% of North American iOS Devices

Adoption of iOS 7 has been going up at an astonishing rate. Chitika has been tracking iOS 7 adoption since the mobile operating systemís release in the Fall. In September, about 32% of iOS devices in North America were already running iOS 7.

Chitika's latest statistics, which the company notes were recorded from both iPhone and iPad users, illustrate that Apple's newest mobile operating system continues to show off its popularity. 74% of iOS devices in North America are now running some version of iOS 7, followed by about 22% of iOS devices running iOS 6, and the rest running older versions of iOS.

Chitika also notes that iPhone users have been faster at upgrading to iOS 7 than iPad users have been.

iOS 7 brought iOS device users an all-new redesigned user interface with new features. Many users look at the upgrade as a breath of fresh air, while many are still on the fence about even upgrading because the design is so entirely different from iOS 6.

Most schools are just now updating too. Now that Apple has the configuration piece figured out and a lot of the bugs figured out, we're starting to upgrade them. iOS 7 still has a lot of bugs in it though.

iOS7 IMO is the worse firmware revision ever! 7.1 beta seeded a few weeks back. If anything it probably resembles how 7.0 should have released but it's taken this long for them to sort it. Hopefully iOS8 is smoother when the Beta drops in June...

The only reason iOS 7 runs on so many devices is because we don't have the option of downgrading. If I had the option of downgrading my 5S to iOS 6 jailbroken I'd do it in a heart beat. But Apple never gives us a choice. If you're on iOS 6 for example, and your phone tweaks out which requires a restore you're screwed. You must update to iOS 7.

You have a choice of not upgrading. It's hard to accidentally update your device if you actually read the notifications that come up on your screen. The device won't update by itself. People say they do update by themselves but you have to push update of some form for the device to start the update.

iOS 7 hit a 33% iOS market share in just 24 hours, 58% in just 7 days, so 74% is not a surprise.

That's not what I mean. If you have a iOS 6 jailbroken device and for some reason is gets stuck in loop or what not, something that forces you to restore you're screwed. Not many people know about saving SHSH files. My point is Apple doesn't have freedom. It's their way always.
