  • Apple Hypes Major iTunes Announcement Tuesday Morning

The front page of Apple's website says it all. Tomorrow is a big day for iTunes. How so? I guess we'll found out for certain in fewer than 24 hours. For now, Apple will only say that it has an "exciting announcement" planned for 7 a.m. Pacific, 10 a.m. Eastern tomorrow. "Tomorrow is just another day that you'll never forget," Apple proclaims with the full power of the entire front page. "Check back here tomorrow for an exciting announcement from iTunes."

Although much speculation will likely be rampant across the blogosphere for the remainder of today, most are already assuming that the announcement will be rooted in the long-awaited arrival of streaming content to iTunes. Almost a full year into Apple's acquisition of Lala, virtually nothing has come of the purchase, even though "imminent" announcements have been anticipated since the day after the news of the acquisition leaked.

All told, anything cloud-based would be a welcome development for millions of iTunes users. In fact, if tomorrow's announcement involves anything less than new streaming, cloud-based attributes, Tuesday will, indeed, be "just another day" after all. For that reason, Apple's grand hype suggests that something huge is definitely around the corner. And, fortunately, we won't have to wait long to find out the specifics.

Ah yes, Apple. The same company that fought tooth and nail to REMOVE DRM from its store forever for the last couple of years basically hard-balled the record labels to agree with it.

How big of an idiot are you, really?

If it's the Beatles I'll have forgotten it by noon, much less a day that I won't ever forget.I have a box set of the the Beatles and it can't be beat when in that nostalgic mood. But a huge day for iTunes?...Really?,,

You'd think it would have changed to "come back today at..." by now.

I did not know they had fought to remove DRM. I was speaking out of memory from about 5 years ago, when I was actually using iTunes to DL music. After I realized that my iTunes music would only work on an iPod, and not a regular MP3 player, I quit using it and fell out of the Apple scene. Now that I have an iPod Touch, I've been using iTunes again for Apps, but was unaware of Apple's Anti-DRM war.

Long story short, no need for name-calling.

MacRumors has just reported that the iTunes music store is now fully populated with Beatles music, so it would seem that rumor was the right one.

While I think it's cool the Apples put the naming junk behind them, and I am a Beatles fan of epic proportions, I don't see this as particularly ground-breaking.

If you are a Beatles fan who must have Beatles stuff in your digital catalog, wouldn't you have ripped your CD's ages ago anyway?

Yup, seems like that over-hyped thing had to do with Beatles. They're a good band, but it seemed like Apple probably had something bigger planned.

Just pointing out your inaccuracy of saying it's the first time teenagers will have The Beatles on their iPods. I thought it was a fairly stupid comment to be honest.

      Edited: misquote

I didnt say can, did I? And I said like me, because I still don't have them. To recap, I said "teenagers like me" and "will" get their music.
