Apple's Retail POS Goes Dark Across Much of the U.S.
MMi has been receiving reader tips today to suggest that a technical glitch is causing headaches for Apple customers across much of the United States.
Although we can't confirm that this is a nationwide problem, shoppers visiting Apple retail stores have effectively been thwarted from making purchases or even picking up items ordered through Apple's online storefront.
As far as we can tell, Apple's point-of-sale systems went down today and they're not back up yet. Simply put, this glitch is delaying an untold number of transactions. And with the iPad mini with Retina display freshly introduced to consumers, the timing for this outage couldn't possibly be worse.
MMi will keep you posted on the status of the outage and its anticipated repair. At this point, if a fix doesn't come soon, Apple may want to call the folks at PayAnywhere
to step in and stop the financial bleeding that Apple is sustaining because of this ugly mobile payments meltdown.
