  • Analyst: Two Annual iPhone Refreshes Will Be The New Norm for Apple

Morgan Stanley analyst and resident Apple watcher Katy Huberty said today that we should now expect two new iPhones a year from Apple.

Just as we bore witness to the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c this fall, Apple will likely introduce at least two new iPhones annually from this point forward, Huberty told investors on Wednesday.

After a recent meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook, Huberty is confident that Apple is poised to embrace a greater frequency for product refreshes in the iPhone line-up.

Of course, if these projections manifest, it wouldn't come as much of a surprise. Apple, after all, has faced pressure from critics and even some of its board members to innovate more aggressively and introduce more products on a more routine basis.

While it isn't yet clear if the iPad and iPad mini will see multiple refreshes annually, the iPhone family all but certainly will.

Since they released the 5s and 5c this year I presumed that they would continue to keep refreshing them.

5S is KING. The 5C is decent but a rehash of last year. Who wouldn't want the finger scanner, 64bit tech and faster processor? 5S all day.

They sell the 4s right now, so I would think the 5c has another year.

I wouldn't want one because to me it is a private concern.

I dont want to buy an Iphone and know that its going to be 'so last year' in 6 months when a new one comes out.
One of the reasons i bought an iphone was because it felt fresh for a long time.
      What a capitalist *****-*** world.

Isn't the "so last year" a society thing and not an iPhone thing?

Regardless of what other people think of me, I just don't see how Apple is going to make a phone that's twice as fast and has even a couple new features every six months, especially when they had to make last year's iPhone plastic to hit the $100 cheaper price target this time.

Plus it could mean you get dropped off Apple's supported hardware list twice as soon, developers focus on the new phones, etc.

I don't think u will see the "C" series go away. The 5S will be dropped IMO. It makes sense to manufacture one form factor & a plastic variant (C). With the iPhone 6 being touted as a larger iPhone yet again it's my guess that the 5S will get dropped like the 5 did this yr in favour of a plastic variant. We will find out next Sept I guess but that's my thoughts...

Sounds like short-hand for Apple introducing iPhone screensize variants.
      Maybe 4.0, 4.8 and 5.3-inchers ?
Now that's gunna hurt Samsung hard!
