iPad Air Tracker Shows Device Availability at up to 20 Nearby Stores
Shortly after Apple completed its initial iPad Air worldwide rollout, certain models are already seeing stock outs in the US. A handy web-based tracker is able to search nearby Apple stores for supply on hand. Developer Mordy Tikotzky, has created an Apple product tracking tool, this time for those looking to nab a new iPad Air on launch day, a prospect becoming increasingly slim as first day supplies of certain models run dry.
According to the Online Apple Store, high-capacity versions of the Air are showing stock outs across the nation, especially the top-end 128 GB in both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular. The models that are seeing the most constraints are the space gray 128 GB T-Mobile models, which is currently showing an estimated shipment time of 5 to 10 business days.
In an effort to aid consumers, Tikotzky developed a tool that allows users to display iPad Air in-store pickup availability at the 20 closes Apple Stores. As with the website’s iPhone 5S tracker, the iPad Air version is said to gain a feature that notifies users via email when stock is available. For those of you curious to learn more, the tool works by compiling and reformatting the data pulled in from Apple’s official online store. It should be noted that the represented information is limited to in-store pickup purchases only and doesn’t necessarily reflect stock on hand. The best bet would be to call the local Apple Store before heading down to check supplies.
In addition to the iPad Air and iPhone 5S trackers, Tikotzky is currently preparing the tool to handle Apple’s upcoming Retina iPad Mini as well. Supply of the smaller 7.9-inch tablet is expected to be extremely tight when it launches later in November as LCD manufacturers are reportedly seeing lower than expected yield rates.
Did any of you pick up an iPad Air? If so, how was your experience?
