  • Apple Gives Game Developers the Ability to Manage Top 100 Game Center Scores

Game Center is Apple's way of allowing gamers on iOS and Mac OS to connect with each other, share scores, and even initiate multi-player gaming sessions.

Apple is now allowing App Store and Mac App Store game developers to combat cheaters that like to hike their high scores up to the top of the Game Center leaderboards through the use of hacks.

The company has given developers control over the top 100 players in their game leaderboards, making it so that all unrealistic-looking scores can easily be deleted to level the playing field for all those players out there that are playing fair. Developers now also have the power to block players that use these third-party hacks to try and spoof their scores.

Apple giving developers control over the top 100 players in their leaderboards is definitely a great way to help cut down on the cheating, but there’s always a chance that the list of cheaters could reach well beyond the top 100 players. It should be interesting to see if Apple will expand the developers’ control over this situation.

Now the developers just need to do something about it. Seeing 999,999 points on almost every leader board is just ridiculous.

I hope they also gave them the ability to ban certain users from the leaderboard.

      Oh, they did.

thank god for this because I'm tired of seeing just about every game out there with numbers that are definitely unrealistic.
