  • Apple Releases iOS 7.0.3

[WARNING: Prospective iOS 7 jailbreakers should avoid 7.0.3 for the time being as we sort out whether or not if closes anything critical to the JB]

Capping off an incredibly busy morning of Apple news, Apple has just released a pretty big iOS bug fix update in the form of iOS 7.0.3.

Inching ever-closer to iOS 7.1, today we get 7.0.3, the build number of which is 11B49.

According to Apple, 7.0.3 accomplishes the following:

    • Adds iCloud Keychain to keep track of your account names, passwords, and credit card numbers across all your approved devices
    • Adds Password Generator so Safari can suggest unique, hard-to-guess passwords for your online accounts
    • Updates lock screen to delay display of "slide to unlock" when Touch ID is in use
    • Adds back the ability to search the web and Wikipedia from Spotlight search
    • Fixes an issue where iMessage failed to send for some users
    • Fixes a bug that could prevent iMessage from activating
    • Improves system stability when using iWork apps
    • Fixes an accelerometer calibration issue
    • Addresses an issue that could cause Siri and VoiceOver to use a lower quality voice
    • Fixes a bug that could allow someone to bypass the Lock screen passcode
    • Enhances the Reduce Motion setting to minimize both motion and animation
    • Fixes an issue that could cause VoiceOver input to be too sensitive
    • Updates the Bold Text setting to also change dial pad text
    • Fixes an issue that could cause supervised devices to become un-supervised when updating software

My 5S is still off the same 1 degree prior to updating to 7.0.3. So no it hasn't been fixed. Now I know 1 degree isn't much, but my main problem is with the fore and aft calibration, which is displayed in the level app by 2 lines, one on either side of screen. While playing a flying game my 5S thinks it's pitched away from me and the plane descends. In the end it comes to: I paid $750 for my iPhone, they'll keep giving me a new one until it's fixed.

So this update doesn't fix the current issue with Control Center, where you cant change/skip songs or pause music. This I thought was a big priority since Apple iPhones are the stream of music devices. Apple, start listening to the people and not your QA.

+1. to add I hate locked devices to both cell companies and os, I pay my bills and its my phone.

Just upgrade over the air. iPhone 5 was on ios6.4. Now on IOS7.2 and it looks nice. Got tired if waiting, plus had to let the bugs get worked out first.

Over the air today will get you 7.2 still.

A Jailbreak causes more bugs? What in the hell are you talking about? Each one of my jailbroken devices run better and i have more control over it.

Looks like iJailbreak.com got the jump on Modmyi.com about Musclenerd confirming that 7.0.3 is SAFE to upgrade to.

I JB because of MyWi tether since I have unlimited and don't wish to pay ATT for this. Plus some nice operating system tweaks. Still with a 4s and 6.1.2. I just hope that JB apps get updated when a JB for ios 7x comes out.

From what I see about ios 7x, I don't really care for it as it has a few things that annoy me that I see from my wife's 5s phone.
One of the reasons I'm still with 4s. One of these days they will listen to users and clean up 7x.

Yeah, there are fewer reasons for me to JB since Apple has added so many JB features to iOS now, but there are still several tweaks I miss. So I will be JB'ing whenever one is released for the 5S on iOS7+..

I wasn't talking for all jail breakers. I was speaking directly to him. And honestly, I was one of those people back on iOS 4. After about a month or two I stopped and only did it to try an app before purchasing them if they didn't have a Lite version. For iOS 4-6 it was for design customization and a feature here and there. Apple implemented new design and most of the features I used into iOS 7 by default. I'm just saying that I don't need a JB and if others want it they can do it. But the majority of the jail breakers were the same as me and only cared for the things that apple has implemented.

Did you take a representative poll of jail breakers?

I was having an entire UI problem where I would type something w/ (let's say) two paragraphs. If I went back to add something to the end of the first paragraph OR wanted to write something in between the two paragraphs, then the cursor line wouldn't show up correctly. I'd have to fumble around a lot just to get the cursor to show. Hope that makes sense!

I had the same problem. Positioning the cursor behind or in front of a letter was next to impossible sometimes. Since it was never mentioned I assumed it was just me.

      Seems to be fixed now.

Ah, so now a JB fixes any bugs in iOS and makes devices run better.

      Good to know!

I originally thought it was a Twitter.app problem on iOS 7. Then I started seeing it in text messages and emails. I was really hoping someone internal caught it cuz it was very annoying!

How is iOS terrible at closing running apps? Do you understand how iOS is supposed to work with respect to memory management and closing apps?

If its so great then why do I have to close so many running apps in the background? Are you telling me they are not running and they do not use any memory while still opened? Really?

I want to exit an app and have it closed no process running, whats wrong with that? I had an app that did this with JB and it helped speed up my Iphone 4?

      You really are clueless then.

Apps being left open in the app switcher is by design. They are there in a suspended state so that if you access them again they open instantly. If you close them out completely, then they must reload into memory thus taking more time.

This is one of the top features of iOS. They manage memory great. If you are utilizing an app that needs more memory, then iOS starts shutting down apps automatically.

Maybe if you understood more about how it's supposed to work, you wouldn't think that it sucks!
