iOS 7 has Been Installed on 71% of iOS Devices in Just 27 Days
We’ve been watching, as iOS 7 has quickly become the most popular iOS firmware version for iOS device users. New statistics from Mixpixel
share that 71% of the world’s iOS devices are now running iOS 7 as of 27 days after the initial release last month
Notably, this is a new record for Apple. Fortune
notes that Apple's last major update for iOS, iOS 6, reached 61% of iOS devices last year, 30 days after its release. Not only has iOS 7 been installed on more iOS devices than iOS 6 was, but it did so in a shorter amount of time.
The other 29% of iOS device users can be broken down even further. 25.34% of iOS device users are running iOS 6, while 3.66% of iOS device users are running a version of iOS firmware older than iOS 6. These 29% of iOS device users are what make up those that refuse to update to iOS 7, those that can't update because their devices aren't supported by iOS 7, those that are waiting for iOS 7 to become more stable, and those that don't want to lose their jailbreaks.
With all of the new features, and the new appearance of iOS 7, it's not very surprising that these numbers have come to be a reality. The upgrade is very tempting for users, offering a breath of fresh air in both design and functionality.
