  • iOS 7 has Been Installed on 71% of iOS Devices in Just 27 Days

We’ve been watching, as iOS 7 has quickly become the most popular iOS firmware version for iOS device users. New statistics from Mixpixel share that 71% of the world’s iOS devices are now running iOS 7 as of 27 days after the initial release last month.

Notably, this is a new record for Apple. Fortune notes that Apple's last major update for iOS, iOS 6, reached 61% of iOS devices last year, 30 days after its release. Not only has iOS 7 been installed on more iOS devices than iOS 6 was, but it did so in a shorter amount of time.

The other 29% of iOS device users can be broken down even further. 25.34% of iOS device users are running iOS 6, while 3.66% of iOS device users are running a version of iOS firmware older than iOS 6. These 29% of iOS device users are what make up those that refuse to update to iOS 7, those that can't update because their devices aren't supported by iOS 7, those that are waiting for iOS 7 to become more stable, and those that don't want to lose their jailbreaks.

With all of the new features, and the new appearance of iOS 7, it's not very surprising that these numbers have come to be a reality. The upgrade is very tempting for users, offering a breath of fresh air in both design and functionality.

It hasn't been that quiet at all, the evaders have announced that they are having good success with building a jailbreak. But they aren't just going to release it when iOS is so unstable by itself, also. Apple will probably push out 7.1 in the next month or 2. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a 7.2 release a few months after 7.1 also. iOS 7 was not ready to be released to the public yet and I say this having an iPhone 5s and iOS still crashes on me daily. They either started working on it way too late, or released it too early. Either way it wasn't ready to be released.

I never upgraded my iDevices to it. Want to keep them how they are. I will experience iOS 7 when my iPhone 5s arrives on Thursday and when I buy the next iPad.

iPhone 4s on 6.1.3, iPhone 5s on 7.0.2. Best of both worlds .

Wow..probably the largest/fastest adoption rate yet. I would think its because this is the first iOS release to have a new look and feel. All the others were patches and tweaks...thus the quick JB's. Im willing to wait for a quality untethered JB :]

And 2% (I may be wrong) are waiting for a jailbreak

SORRY! But there are a boatload of us who don't want the flat as a pancake, jony ivie "MY IOS IS THE BEST IOS BECAUSE I THOUGHT OF IT!",
EVEN after JAILBREAK. The only way I would update to IOS 7 is when my themes will run on it with my Icons. Seriously, the new homescreen looks like Kmart designed it!

If you don't like iOS 7 then don't use it. But whatever happens please stop ******** about the freaking OS. Before it came out their were droves of people whining about how they hated it, how they'd rather go to an Android device rather than suffer the hideousness of iOS 7, blah blah blah.
If you hate it go and become a developer for Apple, pitch your idea for a new OS, and see what happens. If you're not willing to do that shut the _ _ _ K up.

Agreed. It's not as bad as everyone thinks. Personal preference but still. Animations. The new look. Coming from a person who hated all the little firmware updates to nothing that really changed, it really is a new phone

I only updated because one of the apps I updated disabled my ability to make phone calls and it couldn't be undone even after uninstalling the app, bunch of BS...

It's a free country. So I am expressing my right to say I don't like IOS 7. How dare you tell me to shut up! If you don't agree with my opinion, you are free to read someone else's. I don't need to go to Apple and become a developer. I am the customer. I have and will continue to have a strong opinion about what I like and why. Thank goodness for the difference of opinion. You can be a clone fanboy if you want to, but don't try dragging me along. The reason I jailbreak is to be able to customize my iphone the way I WANT, not the way APPLE WANTS.
