For those that can appreciate useful shortcuts to the applications they use the most on their iOS devices, a new jailbreak tweak called Simple Mode
by iOS developer David M is now available in Cydia that will keep track of your top five applications (the ones you use the most), and add shortcuts to them on your lock screen.
Simple Mode actually keeps count of how many times you open each application on your iOS device, and adjusts the lock screen shortcuts accordingly. It will put the top five applications in a neat-looking shortcut launcher. You can hide or show the launcher by tapping on the arrow. As the shortcuts appear and disappear, you'll see some slick animations, as shown below:
Simple Mode adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you adjust the tweak’s settings to your liking:
The first option is auto-animate, which is an option you can enable or disable to have the shortcuts animate automatically whenever the lock screen becomes visible.
Below that, you can adjust the applications that will appear in Simple Mode’s lock screen shortcuts. You can lock specific applications to stay on the lock screen at all times, and you can even disable specific applications so they’ll never appear on the lock screen. By default, your top five most-used applications will appear on the lock screen. The shortcuts can be placed in any order that you wish to have them in via the triple-line grabbers on the right side of the screen.
You can also enable or disable an auto-open feature, which will let you have a certain application automatically launch every time you unlock your iOS device. After you enable this feature, you can set an application via the cell below, and then enable it.
Simple Mode gives the user what appears to be a seamless way to have easy access to their favorite applications, and it looks good in terms of design and animations. If you want to give it a try, it’s available in Cydia’s BigBoss repository for just $1.99. The tweak is compatible with iOS 6 on the iPhone and iPod touch.
