  • iOS 7 Officially Released to the Public

After the long wait, iOS 7 is officially out to the public. Users can upgrade their software OTA (Over the Air) or through iTunes.

iOS 7 brings iOS devices a whole new look, as well as a number of new features, whcih we covered for you in depth at this link.

If youíre jailbroken and donít want to lose your jailbreak, we would suggest staying where you are for the time being. The evad3rs are confident that they will have a jailbreak for iOS 7 in the future, but theyíre not so sure when. So it could be a while.

For those that already updated, and are missing their jailbreaks, iOS hacker ih8sn0w just posted a blog post adding validity to the iOS 6.1.4 and iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreaks that were teased on video last night. You should downgrade as soon as you can while the downgrade window is still open.

The GM is usually the public release that developers just get the opportunity to test in advance.

You probably won't get prompted to update. But you always have the option to connect to iTunes and restore to the latest software.

Unfortunate... the GM was not exactly ready for primetime. If that's indeed the same as the release, you guys may wish to hold off until 7.01

The iOS 4 GM wasn't jailbreakable though, so it might be wise to restore to 7.0 in case Apple releases 7.0.1 and patches the jailbreak before it's released.

Running iOS7 GM, when plugging my iPhone 5 into my PC, I get a message that says the iPhone isn't compatible with my version of iTunes and that I need 11.1. However, when I go to try and download it from apple, the latest version available on apple's site is the version I have (11.0.5). FAIL.

You will not get iOS updates OTA with GM installed. You will have to update new ipsw via itunes. Just download the new ipsw and update. No need to restore.

Greetings from Jerusalem.. Very Strange all, I can see it on the OTA, but even after updating to iTunes 11.1, it keeps on saying after checking the update server: This version of the iPhone software (6.1.4) is the current version.

Any advice anyone? or is it just the apple servers being funny about it all?
