OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 Released to the Public
On Thursday, Apple released OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 as a Mac App Store software update for OS X Mountain Lion users.
The update fixes a number of known bugs in the operating system, such as a problem that could cause e-mail messages not to show up properly in the Mail application and a problem that could cause a screensaver not to start up automatically. In addition, the update improves the reliability and performance of AFP file transfers over 802.11ac Wi-Fi connections, and improves the reliability of Xsan.
OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 will require a restart to install, so if you plan on downloading the update and installing it, you will want to make sure that all of your progress is saved in your running applications. It wouldn't be a bad idea to plug your machine into a power source too.
The update is recommended for all OS X Mountain Lion users. It can be accessed from the Mac App Store directly, or by going to the Menu and clicking on "Software Update."
