  • Apple Seeds iOS 7 Golden Master to Developers

After Apple’s official word on Tuesday that iOS 7 would be released to the public on September 18th, Apple followed up Tuesday afternoon with a seed of iOS 7 golden master for developers. Developers can now officially get to downloading the golden master of iOS 7 from the Developer Center of Apple’s Web site.

The golden master seed occurred approximately 26 days later than the last beta of iOS 7 – iOS 7 beta 6.

The golden master is the last developer version of iOS that is usually seeded right before the public release. It is the closest thing to the real thing that developers have to finalize testing with their applications so they’re ready when iOS 7 is finally launched to the public.

iOS 7 brings users a ton of new features, like Control Center, Parallax wallpapers, new multitasking, improved applications, new interfaces, and more.

No, no one can OTA to GM, my 4S Is registered and it will not show up. No one can OTA from what it looks like

Since the GM is almost always the same as the final release, there is no udid check. However, it is illegal as a dev to distribute to non-devs and for non-devs to install it since it is copywriter software.
That's how it's been in the past, but before spreading word about it, I like to double check nothing has changed, otherwise the non-tech savvy who won't wait will get confused.

Got a download... gonna try it out later. Has anyone with a non registered device done it? Using the option+click "check for updates".

I'm curious too. I've been seeing that you have to have the beta version of iTunes in order to have iTunes recognize the phone after installing the GM.

This is true, but you don't need it to actually update. If you do a shift/option+check for updates you won't lose anything and not being able to use current (Windows) version of iTunes isn't a deal-breaker.

Yea I rarely use iTunes since I backup to the cloud. I'll give it a whirl, if I have to I'll just downgrade back to beta 6.

1428 in the US on ATT. There is a 1429 GSM overseas.

Yes, you can option-update to iOS7 GM with iTunes. No need to restore. Whether or not you need the iTunes 11.1 beta2 to install it right now I am not too sure though. Your device does not have to be registered.

Nope, don't need the iTunes beta. Nice and easy.

Still no unlock sound in GM. Hasn't worked it the last 3 releases think someone would have fixed that. Lol

It's snappy. Much faster, much smoother. Love the new tones. Love the new wallpapers. I'm still not a huge fan of the look of iOS 7, but it's grown on me a lot over these last few months. Battery life seems great, too. I'm on 80% after music at the gym for 2 hours, some web browsing and about 15 mins of texts. Just thought I'd give my opinions if the GM so far.

Did you shift + click update ? Or did you restore ? I did "update". Whereas I can't connect to iTunes now, I still have everything from before. So it's no loss.
