Apple Reportedly Doubles Down on Ad, Marketing Team
Building on last week's report that Apple has embarked on a "hiring spree" as it prepares to launch the eagerly anticipated iTunes Radio platform, AdAge reported Monday that Apple is on pace to double its advertising and marketing team.
"Longtime observers say after years of capping the size and type of internal creative talent, the tech giant is significantly expanding its in-house design group," AdAge reports.
Sources in the know confess that this body of talent could grow to 500 or 600 staffers from about 300 at present.
Although Apple still has and will likely maintain its solid and longstanding relationships with a number of outside marketing and advertising agencies - TBWA/Media Arts Lab, Mono, Eleven, etc. - AdAge has learned from its sources that Apple is looking for a "few good creatives" as it works to "bring more of its advertising and marketing in-house."
Apple has faced ample criticisms in the recent past for not hitting its mark on marketing as it used to. With new products and services on the horizon, Apple appears poised to hunker down and put the creative labor needed in place to knock the next marketing campaign out of the park.
