NYC Apple Store: A Line Has Already Formed
Apple isn't scheduled to formally unveil the next generation iPhone(s) for another four days, but there's already a line forming outside of Apple's retail store in New York City.
Of course, just because Apple will show off its iPhone 5S (and possibly iPhone 5C) next week doesn't mean that the devices will be available next week. Per the standard operating procedure around Cupertino, preorders will commence within days of the new iPhone reveal, followed by another week or so before shipments go out.
In other words, the folks in line outside of the Apple Store in the Big Apple will be outside for approximately two weeks.
And they're okay with that.
Here's how the headline over at Venture Beat describes the situation: "These idiots are already lining up at Apple’s NYC store for the new iPhone launch."
"We think the new iPhone will be available on [Sept. 20] … that’s our speculation, since it’s usually out on the Friday after the introduction,” Jon Murphy, one of the "iCampers," said. “So we think we’ll be out here for about two weeks.”
Want to hear the really outrageous part? The two guys profiled in Venture Beat weren't even the first in line.
“I for sure thought we’d be first, no question,” Murphy said. “But there were two people who arrived last night … they’ve apparently done this for three years.”
