Spotify Announces Spotify Connect, an AirPlay-like Service to Stream Music Wirelessly
Spotify, the highly popular Internet music streaming service, has announced on Tuesday that they will be rolling out a new feature called Spotify Connect. Spotify Connect will allow users of both the mobile and desktop Spotify applications to wirelessly stream music to wireless speakers in their home, similarly to the way Apple's AirPlay does.
Spotify promises that the feature will be accessible from multiple devices at once, so you can pick up on one device where you left off on another. In addition, for those iPhone users out there, phone calls won’t interrupt your music streaming, so you won’t have to worry about your music pausing just because you need to take a phone call. Finally, Spotify promises that the feature won't have a huge impact on battery life.
The company notes that Spotify Connect will be a part of the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad versions of the application soon for those that are subscribed to Spotify’s premium service. The feature will become available to premium subscribers using the Android and desktop versions of the application later on.

With the ability to steam music wirelessly to speaker systems, you can easily switch from a small mobile speaker to a high-quality sound system in your home to immerse yourself in a music experience full of your highs, mids, and lows. We expect that this feature will become very popular among users that have access to compatible speakers.
