Rumored iPhone Trade-In Program at Apple Becomes Reality... Today
We were told it's coming, and now it has arrived.
On Friday, Apple officially launched a widely-rumored iPhone trade-in program across the United States, just as Best Buy introduces a weekend-long promotion
offering the iPhone 5 for 50% off with a functional iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S trade-in.
CNBC's John Fortt confirmed the news this morning, adding that the program is not temporary and will be available at Apple stores everywhere in the United States effective immediately. As of this writing, Apple is yet to formally announce the program on its website.
All we can tell you with certainty at this point is that customers who bring in a working older-gen iPhone will be eligible to receive credit toward the purchase of a newer model.
We will keep you posted as more details emerge.
