  • Is this the next iPhone running the new iOS?

Tinhte, the people who have previously shown off many Apple prototypes, including a test iPhone 4, a MacBook prior to refresh, and a pic of an iPod touch with a camera, well before any of these were announced officially by Apple, are at it again, this time sporting a white iPhone that they say is running a "test version" of iOS.

If this is in fact the iPhone 5, it sure it looks a lot like the iPhone 4, which if you've been keeping up with the latest rumors, should not be a surprise. It's expected that a majority of the upgrades are happening on the inside of this flashy white phone. The same source has released a second video that shows off the phone's hardware, and lo and behold this thing's sporting a 64 GB hard drive.

The short videos show off the new interface for a bit, particularly highlighting a brand new multitasking interface. The current multitasking of iOS 4 has allegedly been replaced by an expose-like (and similar to the multifl0w cydia tweak) interface that reveals all of your open applications. A tap brings you back to that app, and a long hold brings up the typical wiggling icons and allows you to close the app in the background. Also in the multitasking expose is the familiar spotlight search, which seems to be gone from its usual spot to the left of the home screen.

Finally, the prototype iOS (which still has an iOS 4 build number) also includes long-awaited Facebook integration, which is now located in the settings menu. Although, we can't be fully sure this is the same iOS update we'll see in June, there's a good chance this is, we most likely won't know for sure until WWDC in a little over a month.

I hope there is a little more than just a fix to multitasking in the future of iOS...

Who would make their own expose like multitasking interface for "fun" and integrate into SpringBoard (and not allow anyone else to use)? That's a lot of work to make a fake.

The "new" folder look and feel makes me think this is not Apple and is a fake or is a pre iOS 4 beta version and Apple was contemplating an expose look and feel to multitasking. Coupled with the old Calculator icon, and some other items referenced below (ie, RonHC's comment about 4.0 build) - seems much more likely this is pre iOS 4.

I don't believe there's enough to make a decision on whether or not this is an iPhone 4 or 5. But I will ask what's that "mic" at the top front above the camera/speaker?

Even if it is the newest iOS it is more then likely just a revamped ip4, just to keep sales up when the ip5 release approaches.

The version of iOS in the video says 4. Something. It's either fake or the white iPhone 4 is going to have a 64GB version and the new iOS is just to keep people happy until iPhone 5 really drops.

Old Calculator and Voice Memos icons. @ 1:33 in one of the videos you can see Version 4.0 at the bottom in Settings > General > About.

This is an early beta of iOS 4, not iOS 5. This software is over a year old.

yea,, I don't buy this..... I can tell its fake.. if you look at the back of the phone.. the camera does not have the metal bezel around the lens... I think this is the iPhone 4 converted to the white model with a hack to make the memory jump to 64gb. Plus he got some cydia hack on there to do multitasking windows

Just a white iPhone 4. Wouldn't be the 1st time apple took a tweak/idea we had from cydia and put it in iOS . It's not even faster

Proximity and light sensors. All iPhones have them. They were 3 circles on the 3G and 3GS, now a bunch of little dots on the iPhone 4. You just can't see then on the black iPhone 4 in most lighting conditions because the black hides it so well.
