  • 'ColorfulBulletins' Lets You Change the Color and Transparency of Lock Screen Bulletins

Since the lock screen is something we see all the time, why not add a bit of flavor to it that will make it your own?

With a new free jailbreak tweak called ColorfulBulletins by iOS developer ng, you can change the color and the transparency of your lock screen bulletins, which show up whenever you have a number of notifications that you haven't acknowledged yet, as shown above.

ColorfulBulletins adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can adjust the color and transparency of your lock screen bulletins:

From here, you will be able to enable or disable the tweak on demand, choose a color, and choose a transparency level. The tweak includes support for WinterBoard, but most of what you want to accomplish can be done through the main settings. In the event that there isn't a color that you like, you can make your own using the RGB value boxes. You can input a number between 0 and 255 in the RGB boxes to indicate a color value (note: you can only use these value boxes if you choose "Custom" under the Color cell).

You have the following pre-set color choices:

    • Custom
    • Black (default)
    • Dark gray
    • Light gray
    • Gray
    • White
    • Red
    • Green
    • Blue
    • Cyan
    • Yellow
    • Magenta
    • Orange
    • Purple
    • Brown

You have the following pre-set transparency choices:

    • 100% (solid)
    • 90%
    • 80%
    • 70%
    • 60% (default)
    • 50%
    • 40%
    • 30%
    • 20%
    • 10%
    • 0% (transparent)

ColorfulBulletins is a cool way to spice up your lock screen notifications, but right now it only works with bulletins, and not with notification bubbles that appear on the lock screen when you only have one notification. We hope that the developer will add support for the bubble in the future as well, so that the experience appears more seamless.

If you want to give it a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository right now at no cost. The tweak is intended to work with iOS 6.0 and later.

That's cool, that's one feature that's not normally themeable via conventional methods.

Good to see someone has figured it out IMO.
